I'm Italian, so as you can imagine I prefer Italian coffee over everything else
![]() Espresso, brand Vergnano 1882, "con mosca" (literally "with fly" but the "fly" actually is a coffee bean floating in the cup). That's how I love my coffee |

Love my coffee! Preferably cappuccino (sorry all you Italians I know it's a breakfast drink).
We are lucky enough to have a local coffee roaster about 1k from home, we cycle up to get the mail and pick up a coffee on the way home. At home we use a french press and grind our own. |

My absolute favorite coffee has to be Javerde Coffee from http://www.javerde.com/
I love tasting the beans from all over the world as well as their flavored beans (Munky Chow is a fave of mine). They are a small mom and pop shop that puts the customer before the dollar. After going to their shop as well as ordering online I have not stepped foot in a Charbucks. |

There is no best coffee in the world. It's subjective as you can see by all the prior posts. There is so much variety in beans, processing, and preparation that "coffee" can mean very different drinks to different people. In Italy, for example, you would have a hard time even finding a cup of drip coffee as everyone drinks espresso. In the US drip is the common coffee while espresso for the most part is just an ingredient in big sugary milk drinks. In Nigeria the only coffee I could ever find was Nescafe an instant coffee. Turkish coffee, Vietnamese coffee, etc... all very different. So what's "best" to you probably depends on where you're from, what you grew up with, and your personal taste preferences.
What do I personally prefer? I roast my own beans so I always have fresh coffee. I make hand poured drip coffee using a Chemex but sometimes do french press as it brings out different characteristics of the coffee. I also make espresso, which I drink straight as espresso, with a proper espresso machine. Last edited by TheJohnNewton; 02-11-2011 at 10:39 AM. |

the one you drink early in the morning, when the world is still dark, but you have your cup of hot coffee and it makes you all warm and fills you with optimism...

I don't drink coffee, but my husband orders green beans from a bunch of regions and roasts his own. Oaxacla coffee from a region in Southern Mexico is VERY nice. Smooth and mellow, much like Kona coffee, which is also pretty decent. He likes the deeper coffees and he makes his own espresso mix from a bunch of them. The only time I really drink it is if I'm making tiramisu and need a shot to brush on the cakes... |

If you already had Turkish coffe, than I think the one worth to mention that is missing from your post is the Brasilian one, strained in the "sock". A great coffee is what they use in public places in South America, I had it like that in a Peruvian hotel in Lima. They give you a pot with concentrated coffee, obviously fresh by the quality of the aroma, and hot water on the side so that you mix your own brew. I asked and I was told that it is a quite common practice. |

Quite right about everyone having a preference for their 'best' coffee.
I for one enjoy the stove-top moka pot system, sure it takes a good 5 minutes to get it done and it's quite an interesting sequence of events when you're half asleep; I also finish mine off with cream, stopped using milk many years ago. Just get good cream, shake it up and pour it onto the coffee, so velvety smooth ![]() Too bad it's 23H00 here, else I'd be having one! |
