I don't need glasses in normal light (I was very nearsighted, got PRK, now nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other. Sight is wonderful - depth perception stinks). But in dim light at bedtime, I jack up the font. I recently had to put some greasy salve near my eye - that really caused the font to go up. I was afraid the "click, click, click" would wake up my husband.

I'm of the 'can't find my glasses without my glasses' crowd. I normally put them in the same place every night, but once or twice my hubby had to find them for me.

I normally read WITH my glasses, but occasionally I take them off. I'm nearsighted, astigmatic, and have 'old eyes' and bifocals.

At £1 a pair I have them scattered everywhere.

Ditto Im longsighted and have now taken to cheap pairs of reading glasses but only need them in dim lighting. Not sure which way to vote

Astigmatic here so I don't see well close up or far away regardless of font size...it's always blurry. As much as I dislike it, I use glasses whilst ereading.

I can't see the big E on the vision test wall. Iknow it is a big E so I could lie and say that it is a big E but to me it is a giant black blob. Glasses are a requirement for all activities that actually involve my seeing something.

I wear contact lenses, so yeah. I don't take them out to read. If I'm wearing the glasses instead, I don't take them off to read.

I'm astigmatic, too, and nearsighted. I used to read without my glasses, but now I find that it's a bit uncomfortable to read without them.

blind as half a mole (shortsighted 12/15 dpt afair) but i read w/o glasses - always did.
dunno why. the funny thing is I'm better with small print than people with eyes in healthy ranges.
('t was always very handy when printing micro-cheat sheets for the next math test at school)

If it's night and I'm in bed, I take my glasses off, but if I'm in a chair or not liable to fall asleep, I'll keep them on. Either way I can focus on the text in the comfortable position to hold the book.

Sometimes it's just more comfortable to take the glasses off.

My problem too - but I am shortsighted. I voted Yes but only need reading glasses at night time. I still find for very fiddly jobs (making jewellery for instance) I prefer to work without glasses as it's easier to judge distances. I now notice that as my close up vision degrades my long vision is slightly better. Maybe eyes change shape as they age?

I voted yep but it really depends. I wear contacts so I'll either put on the reading glasses or adjust the font size, depending on where I am....but if my contacts are out for the night and I am wearing my glasses to see, I have to take the glasses off - go figure

I have been a 'speccy four eyes' since the age of about 7, and have had to wear glasses/lenses all the time since about the age of 8 so for me to try and use any reader without my glasses would be difficult whatever the font size. Short sighted and have astigmatism - contact lenses almost impossible for me to get and very expensive - thanks for passing that gene on Mum!

I choose to have the smallest font size as I tend to read very quickly and found that with the larger fonts I was literally turning the pages one after the other with barely a pause, so the smallest font is easier and better for me.

I think this is "fuzziness" working in your favor. I have a very low-power prescription and can comfortably read on the 3rd smallest font on my kindle. With my glasses on, I read comfortably on the 2nd smallest font.

I tend to not wear my glasses because it pinches my nose. I settle for the larger font.

I do not need glasses. Therefore I did not vote. I'd like to wear glasses, just to look intelligent. Or to look taller, importanter, busier, worthier, distinctier, ..., all those nice things that you glass wearers enjoy.
