Local libraries: zilch.
There's a group of libraries that banded together to offer ebooks, the closest brach of which is an hour away by car, but their selection in my favourite genres wasn't that great... something like 30 fantasy titles, 20 scifi, and half of the latter were single issues of a pulp serial. I'll have to look into the international options. |

Can't resist chiming in. My two public library cards get me access to the NH State and Merrimack Valley (Mass) elibraries and they're dire. I've already read everything of any possible interest to me at both places and they're not expanding their collections rapidly. Non-fiction is especially poorly represented; mostly a lot of self-help books.
I figure it will get better, but in the long run and not the short term. As for now, when discussing ereader options with those who are about to take the plunge, I counsel them that the elibrary factor is not significant. |
