Everyone, B&H has the 950 in stock and for sale at 249.99!

The best price on the web. Might want to hurry these are selling out like hotcakes. Vanns only had a new batch for about a day.

My prs950 order is scheduled to be delivered today. So I waited in my apartment to get it.
Normally UPS driver go to my neighborhood in the morning around 10, but this time he didn't. I kept waiting and waiting. I didn't heard someone knocking my door. Then I got a email from UPS showing that my package is delivered. Ok. I went to open my door and check if the driver left the package out of my door. But nothing is there. I talked to my neighbor did she hear any door knocking? she said no. I go back to check the tracking and found that the package was left on PORCH and no info about signature. Last time I checked another package left out of my door, the tracking showed left out of door. this time it shows PORCH. Come on, this is an apartment. My apartment is in second floor and no PORCH. JUST WONDER WHERE IS MY 200usd e-reader. I call UPS and the representative told me to contact shipper. Ok. I used B&H online chat to ask a representative to file a claim to UPS. He told me it takes about 3-8 days to get response from UPS. So disappointed.

Hey guys,

I feel a little panicked, I ordered on B&h and my PRS 950 has been shipped last thursday, a UPS guy arrived when i was not at home, so he let me a UPS InfoNotice to notice me that he came to deliver the package. Just to mention it : i live in France.

But the guy ticked a box which deals with COD "Collect on delivery" for an amount (and i don't think to misread ) of 92,55 which equals to 122 USD! I have chosen UPS worldwide saver and ever paid 44$ for the shipping in my order. So if I understand the principal of COD, i will have to pay more than one hundred dollars to take my package...It's frightening because this is a amount of money I can't afford...especially for...nothing!

Penalties for those of us ruled by an unelected bunch of bureaucrats in Europe...

probably VAT and duty plus whatever joys the French government dump on you...

of course, it could all be a mistake and it will be happily refunded...

I don't think it concerns taxes and other things like that. I ordered a Kindle 3 a month ago and paid 45$ for shipping and i did not have to give extra money for getting the package.

I looked for pieces of information about COD, it does not correspond to taxes or VAT, it is a way to ship package, if i understood the whole thing, someone who sells a product send it to a customer, the seller does not receive any money at the beginning, he chooses COD, that is to say that UPS or another company takes the money to the customer at the delivery time (if the customer does not pay, the shipping company does not give the package)...and then, the money is send to the seller in the next few days...

But that does not concern me because i totally paid the order! I think it's a mistake... hum...i hope

If you used UPS this is not a brokerage fee, but some other import tax or duty imposed by your country's government. I could be more certain if I could identify you or this order in our database, but from the information here and in your forum profile I cannot.

The UPS guy has come today, and he let me know that I have to give 92,55€ (~122$) for taking the package. Elcreative was unfortunatly right, it's not a mistake but VAT, taxes, and duties costs... What a (bad) surprise for me, one third of the value of the PRS 950, I knew that i could have taxes to pay but not so much! I'll pay because I ever bought a skin for my 950 but i feel a little lured by this.

I have ever contacted the B&H photo customer service in order to know what I could do! I do not really want to return the device as it seems to be a great one but i don't think that B&H is going to do something about this, it's business afterall and as student in economics, i understand that ...

B&H photo (i'm speaking to the person here), i let you my e-mail address i think it will be enough to identify me. I don't know if it's a violation of the forum rules but if it is the case, you can delete it:

When I calculated shipping costs on B&H site, it would automatically add import duty taxes for most of the shipping options (I'm in France), wasn't it the case for you ? That's why it's not that interesting to order from the US, even with the low prices and low dollar...the taxes are prohibitive, and far much more than just 20% VAT. Then again you can try to find a store that use a shipping company that won't systematically handle the taxes, but then it's like a lottery : your package may or may be not on hold at the duty, and if it is you have to pay the taxes.

There is a "Duties & Tax" calculator on our site. When you chose UPS Worldwide Saver as your shipping option the "Duties & Tax" calculator would have opened a pop-up window listing VAT, Duties, Disbursement, Security & Handling and Carrier Surcharge individually and then as a total. We are sorry if this was not apparent. These are fees imposed by the government of your country over which we have no control. Nevertheless, we regret this has caused dissatisfaction.

Nope, i had any window of this kind when i ordered my device, sure it would have frozen me but it's not a big deal , what is done is done ( this expression exists in US? a litteral translation of a french expression =)

I paid this morning duties & taxes, but fortunately, the device is very nice, japan quality it's obvious, everything's perfect !

But i notice that boxes of current devices are more & more empty! Nothing to discover, nothing really exciting, is that fact the fault of Apple with its beautiful but empty packaging, a kind of fashion !
