Just let is be 5V and 1A. Less than reader wants might be a problem.

Last night I updated my desktop to 1.7.5, updated my wireless Kobo to 1.7.4, disconnected, turned off and then turned on my Kobo. Now all of my books are back in the "I'm reading" list" The ones I am reading are at their proper % read amount and all the others are at 1%. I tried restarting but it did not solve the problem.
Is there a solution to this or is it a bug? |

Sometimes plugging Kobo in by USB, choosing "manage", and then removing/unmounting the device (not just unplugging) does some magical things. It seems most people are having a better experience with the WiFi and sync by doing it over WiFi, than through the desktop. When all the updates are released, this should not make a difference. I know my (beta) 1.8 desktop does not have any sync problems with the WiFi Kobo running 1.7.4.

In other words, I had to do a 'bunch of stuff' after my upgrade for everything to show up as it should. In the end, after playing around, it was all good. I am a little afraid to connect it to my PC again, as I am thinking if I synch all my books will be downloaded again...? Last edited by pokee; 11-23-2010 at 03:31 PM. |

I was at Borders today and got a chance to play with the Kobo and Kobo wifi. Both have a serious bug that I am surprised not to have read about on MR. This bug is serious enough that I would never ever recommend a Kobo reader to anyone until it's fixed.
The settings where you change the font to serif or sans-serif breaks an important ADE feature. It breaks embedded fonts. You get the default ADE serif or sans-serif font. So if you have an ePub with an embedded font like the Larsson eBooks, then you don't get the correct font. This is a bug that never ever should have been allowed to leave the factory. if you do it by the hand? Or Calibre? I'm quite surprised they let you play with devices. |

Now that this bug has been pointed out, go yell at Kobo to fix it yesterday. |

What does the Kindle have to do with the Kobo or ADE?
That thread on FBReader for the Kindle has nothing at all to do with the problem of embedded fonts in an ePub not working on the Kobo. The problem as I see it is that the menu's font selection is overriding the ePub's embedded fonts. An option in the font selection that says ePub default would do the trick by just turning off CSS override for the fonts. |

Well, I tried reconnecting my Kobo to the USB and then disconnecting. It didn't help a bit. I curious to know how much beta testing was done on this update. It seems like a quite a large bug that should not have gotten out of software quality testing.

I had more time to think. After getting the reader, I used sd card to
upgrate firmware and put some epubs to it. It took time to process them and they were all in I'm reading area. I was puzzled, but what to do? After the battery drained, I recharged. Magically, only the book I was reading was in I'm reading. Original reader, 1.4 I assume that code has not changed from the start. There is no chance they did not spot all books constantly available. What if you recharge it to get blue light? |

I am also curious to know how many Kobo users actually have ePubs with embedded fonts? |
