If we're talking about equality and I think that we are, there is only one thing for it... Abolishment of copyright, all texts available at any time to everyone, those with the resources WILL PAY, those without the resources will pay what they can. The existence of libraries suggests that the system can work, I don't buy the idea that mean people will take advantage of all the content and not give back anything in return.

Eventually only the texts that matter will be supported, all the rest will sit and wait until they are needed.

Also, google bought some ebook reader manufacturer a few months ago, not sure what they're doing there. A free ereader for everyone would be nice, I doubt the stockholders would go for it though, do you own stock in google?? Do you think more people reading is a good thing....

Ah but that would result in the destruction of society and anarchy and return to subsistence living for 99% of the world. Good luck with that.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but after movable type hit the mainstream, there were indeed those who took advantage of the tech to profit from the work of others. In other words book piracy.

What we are talking about NOW is a direct connection between reader and creator, which enables payments to be shuttled accurately. Upload your work to the net, who keeps track of EVERYTHING. But importantly keeps track of a content's source and who to send payments to.

There will be still be those who will manipulate the system, forging authentication certificates and what not, no system will ever change the mind of those who wish to manipulate that system.

The network was created by anarchists, what exactly have you been expecting?

Reality is created by dreaming about what you want.

Nah, that's not reality, that's dreams of reality. Reality is what you are surrounded by when you rid yourself of desire.
