Thanks, Dulin.

I hope you to receive yours soon and post your quality reviews or photos for the new Pocketbook products

I sees the specs for the Pocket IQ at Dulin's Books has it weighing in at 516 grams. That would put it at 1.13758527 pounds. That seems heavy for a 7" tablet, at least if you consider the Sony 7" eREader is at 293 grams or .65 pounds.

Any comments on the functionality of this unit as a generic Android Tablet? Yes, I do read lots, but I have other devious plans.

This works for me on price point, but if its going to support future version of android (which sounds like it) and its functional as a tablet(has the horsepower), then that would tip me over the edge.

I am considering developing educational apps (mainly to help my son) for android.

This seems like the right form factor and price point to support this kind of thing. But I hesitate since I do not want to buy a unit (like the BPDN) which is limited from upgrade by hardware.

Thoughts?

If you live in the Kansas City Area, They sell them at the Independence Center Mall. There is a pocketbook kiosk close to Sears. $139

It works great, tons of fun, but there are a few glitches inherent in anything new. There is a download online that repair all of them. I believe it will be available tonight or tomorrow.

A translation project just landed in my lap and I'm going to be paid more than what I usually charge. I was thinking about getting a skin for the IQ from decalgirl, but they don't have one made specifically for it. They do have one for a Cruz reader. I think it was mentioned somewhere that it, the Pandigital Novel and IQ all have the same hardware, so would a skin made per the Cruz specifications fit an IQ? If it would, I'd order the skin today, as they're having a sale at 50% off and it ends at midnight tomorrow.

Are dimensions the same? It might be worth it to mark the location of the buttons on the skin and cut it out with an X-acto knife. Otherwise I'll see if they plan to add the IQ to their production line.

IQ: 263 х 190,3 х 11 mm (according to pocketbook)
Cruz: Measures 7.5" x 5.6" x .57" (according to Borders)

They don't match closely at all. Is the IQ really 10 inches tall?

Nope.
Those pocketbook numbers look to be the 902/903.
More credible are the numbers from The ebook reader review:
http://www.the-ebook-reader.com/pocketbook-iq.html

•Dimensions: 192 x 144 x 14mm

Which works out to: 7.56" x 5.67" x 0.55"

It's about the size of a DVD case, judging by the video review.

How long does the battery goes when only reading? Is there a app like i use on my Desire that can stop running apps? And last but not least, how long is the standby period? Anybody out there with hands on experience to help me make up my mind?

Reading and online gave me a good 5 hours of battery life, standby is nearly instant reawake and doesn't seem to take any energy at all
