Finally finished The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie. I figured out who did it from the start although not how the murder was accomplished.
Now reading Foundation by Asimov. Next will be Ender's Game by Card. All paper library books. |

More non-fiction from yours truly ...
In the old days (pre-World War II) air travel between England and Australia took 14 days, including 35 airports in 17 countries. In the mid-80's, Alexander Frater re-traces that route in his book Beyond the Blue Horizon: on the track of Imperial Airways, my current library book (all 430 hardcover pages of it!). If you're at all interested in travel narrative, I can highly recommend two of his books that might be easier to obtain: Tales from the Torrid Zone: Travels in the Deep Tropics and Chasing the Monsoon: A Modern Pilgrimage Through India. For an e-book, I've started The Great Typo Hunt: Two Friends Changing the World, One Correction at a Time. A strange, though compelling, story ... and author! I just finished "Espresso Shot" by Cleo Coyle (blasting through this series!) and now I'm going to start "Booked to Die" by John Dunning.

I just finished our very own Holly Hook's "Tempest." It's a ya novel, and a quick, fun read. Of course I reviewed it here

Just finished "Good Tidings" by Terri Reid, a local (to me) author. The book is set in Freeport, IL (just down the road from me), and my town gets a cursory mention. This is the second in the Mary O'Reilly Paranormal series, I think I mentioned the first one here too. Excellent fast read.

Next something I bought today on a whim at Fictionwise, with their 50% off coupon, for $2.76. The Soapmaster's Apprentice by Geoff Geauterre. It seems like a fun humorous SF/Fantasy story. I've not come across this author before. |

I'm about halfway through *The Pillars of the Earth*, Ken Follett, (from the library). Not exactly breathtaking, but overall an interesting and excellent read. I'm very likely to read the follow up.
It is easy to see why it was turned into a mini-series. |

Hi loreta! Have you gotten iBooks and the Kindle apps downloaded yet? You are going to enjoy your iPad! And be sure to keep an eye on the forums, because nearly every day, a couple of very dedicated bargain hunters post the day's freebies. With your iPad, you can download all of the. Various reading apps and then get books from anywhere.

Pretty much yes. All of the booksellers have their free reading apps, so that you can buy their books. So if you find a book cheaper at Barnes and Noble, for instance, than the price at Fictionwise, then you buy it and it downloads directly to your iPad. I use iBooks and Kindle almost exclusively, but that is just my own preference.
You have nearly limitless flexibility with your iPad. I would suggest that you get a couple of the apps (iBooks, Kindle, Nook) and try out the free books that come with them. That will help you get an idea of which apps are most comfortable to your own reading style. |
