Seriously, we've got a wind advisory already here this morning, and it's supposed to increase during the afternoon. This neighborhood, and the whole metro area, for that matter, has a lot of very large trees and with this kind of wind we always see a few go down. She heard a boom and ran to the door to see that a huge oak tree on the lot next door had fallen into the street, directly onto a moving car. By the time I got there and they had extricated him and gotten him away, she was popping nitroglycerin tablets because of panic and chest pain. So now she gets very nervous when the wind blows like this.

have you guys even recovered from the last storm yet? are you going to go get Mom and have her stay over for the duration?

Your poor mom, that's an awful thing to see It's good that she has an understanding daughter to go to if she's in need of comfort.

Strangely enough, this wind advisory isn't even associated with a storm for this area -- it's just a new weather front moving in very rapidly! I was out all afternoon with Mom at the dr anyway, and the wind seems to have died down some now. We didn't get snow, but Pooh might have...

Yesterday, Australia Day holiday, was a stinker. I think it was 43C where we are. When watering the front garden the kids in the street all came over to get hosed down. We cranked up the barbie and sat in the blowup pool while cooking. It was good to finally get the food on the table in the air conditioning.

I am so sorry to hear that. The main thing is to keep her calm.

Yeah, but today your neighbours don't tell you to get outside in the stinkin' heat, crank up the barbie and see how quick the ice melts. When a bunch of neighbour kids turn up with Australia flag tatoos on their face and bums how do you say.....go away! You have to go with the flow. Today I sat in an air conditioned office and only got hot when I went to the pub for lunch!

I know, it's tough in Camden. But I had to hear everyone else's story of how hot yesterday was.
My wife Tracey keeps asking for a pool. She just doesn't get it. When you live on the side of a steep hill, even though I managed to satisfy her need for a fish pond, that expertise doesn't translate to a swimming pool.

Even though it was over 40c yesterday and 42 predicted for next tuesday, in winter we get frosts and ice too, not on ponds, but on the bird bath and dog bowl. Minus 4c is the coldest we have measured here's in Picton.
