When I was a medical student in 1980, Sen Kennedy gave a speech at my school on health care as a part of his run for president. I got to sit on the platform and meet him face to face. Unlike Ricky, that's the only real "celebrity" that I've ever met. I had been a life long Kennedy fan and it was a highlight for me.

aha. all becomes clear now.

i don't think i've met any celebrities. although i do know there is a movie actor who lives not far from me, a friend of mine is constantly winding up behind him in the grocery checkout queue, but i suspect even if i saw him it wouldn't register. i have a thing about only recognising people in context.
