One of the blokes in the beach swimming club my Dad belonged to got DotW (Dick of the Week) for making just such a misjudgement on the way back from a swim-meet (he'd got the bus to stop, just so's he could make his "emergency landing").

I've only ever laid cable once out of doors, and it was right back at the start of memory (I remember it being in the dunes behind the isolated, facilities-less, beach camping area). Other than that, thunderboxes are about the limit of my (semi-)outside experience.

I've been a scout so I've done my dooty out there a many times. The worst is in the woods at night. You never know when a rutting moose might come along.

I just learned about the earthquake in Haiti and I'm completely under shock.
Many of my friend are Haitian immigrants that have family still over there.

I can't conceive how such devastation can happen.

Thanks. It's a bad situation. It could be worse...I could have been in Port Au Prince...it can always be worse. I'm still at my current job, but I've got to get out.

Why is it almost everytime I take a plane trip somewhere, I come home with a cold. Sore throat, stuffy head, runny nose. . .the whole nine yards.

I wash my hands incessantly, use hand sanitizer, etc., it just doesn't matter. I still get stuck with a cold. Arg!

I know, I know . . . I shouldn't complain considering all that's happening to those poor people in Haiti. My life is blessed . . . but I still hate getting sick.

Kenny, I feel your pain, I really do. I can't get a job that's not retail to save myself. Which is why I went back to school, but I'm not so sure that's working either. I want OUT of my job, too, but there's nowhere else to go.

Because airplanes are basicly just one HUGE petridish. Germs float around everywhere
