My parents like tea with lemon. Even my wife would sometimes add a slice of lemon to her cup, or used to. Although, not anymore I think. In my times, lemon was a delicacy. So having a lemon at home and adding it to tea was very posh (never liked it and my parents gave up on trying to persuade me, why spoil good product (lemon)?).

I have read an article written by Russian businessman who sells Pu-Erh in Russia and he wrote how they used to drink tea sitting around samovar with rock sugar between their front teeth. In my family we were just putting tea spoons...like 2-3 for every cup. How else can you drink tea???

My weekend days (till 16.00/4 pm ) turn into black tea feasts
I had two cups of Assam Harmuty, a cup of Keemun and a cup of Ahmad Hampton Breakfast (not bad at all, only not as good as some others, challenging competition).
I think the next one is going to be Tuocha Pu-erh for two(shu version today).

For some reason, this reminded me of drinking tea in Turkey - a small glass of wicked strong tea, two sugar cubes (which were needed), and a small spoon to stir them in...

I so miss that.

I put lemon in my iced tea, but quit putting it in my hot black teas when I quit drinking Liptons, back when I was 13 or so

Although, I never added sugar. IIRC they realised I don't use it and after one week stopped bringing it to me I have never drunk tea from small glasses before Turkey. It was so sweet

Quite lovely indeed. i made a trip along the borders of Turkey last year and got invited everywhere to have a small glass of fhis strong tea ; at the bakers, the honey-shop....

One did not need to drink the coffee in Turkey - the caffeine content of that morning tea more than made up for it. (used to explain to friends that it was the tea equivalent of expresso...)

Depending on who made the tea, I used either both, one or none of the sugar cubes - those I didn't use were immediately taken by my husband to sweeten his tea even more...
