Actually, if I was going to really complain, I'd complain that you included a link from Apple. Apple is the one that caused eBooks stores to go out of business and to have the prices increased. Apple and the big 5 got together for price fixing.

I got signed up for the Book Bale thing on the last day, using Chrome, with no issues at all. Thanks for the notes from everyone indicating that Chrome seemed to be the way (or at least, one of the ways) to go.
![]() One question though, is that I have received an invoice from Book Bale, showing the properly discounted price for my first month, but haven't received the coupon that I think I'm supposed to get, to actually check out with my books. Did I read that right, that I need a coupon for the month's allotment? And if so, how long has it taken others to get their coupon? I didn't see it either on the invoice or in the email. And I also noted that it said that I have to use the whole coupon at one time, and I'm only secondarily a SF/fantasy reader, so wondering if other folks have recommendations of authors to try. I note someone mentioned Aliette de Bodard, and I really liked her Obsidian & Blood series, and have a few other books of hers, and will be happy to fill in there. And I noted some other authors already mentioned, but would definitely appreciate any more recommendations... |

I got my coupon code within a few seconds. It came from the same address that sent the membership confirmation. I'd check your spam filter.

This is why I always link to at least one alternative when possible. |

Yeah, I've been trying to include B&N and Kobo when possible. Not Apple or Google just because I don't have experience buying from them.

I won't link to any store that sells eBooks that cannot have the DRM removed on the majority of eBooks they sell.

It's coming to an end soon, so I thought I'd remind folks of the Tad Williams Humble Bundle. I bought it last night. A real pleasure to pick up those books I didn't have, and to convert my entire collection (-4 books I'd already purchased) to epub. Being a Kobo user made it really simple; lucky me that they went with Kobo for the partner.

It's best to buy Baen and Tor eBooks as ePub and convert to KF8 or KFX if you have a Kindle. Then you are guaranteed to have your Bean and Tor eBooks without DRM. You don't even need ADE to download them as you download directly as an ePub.

Yeah most new ebooks are the KFX format. Only way around that currently is if you have an amazon ereader they will let you download for transfer by USB in the older formats. I am sure this will end someday.
