of course, as long as you stick to coffee, you're a not-scotchhog.

That sounds good! We've had the machine long enough that I feel comfortable experimenting with it. I may try that.

She taped it; she's going to let me know when it will air. I'm very excited about it, but I'm also dismayed to see that Waterstone's in St. Helier is suddenly not listed as stocking it. I emailed the publisher's sales person yesterday, but it's still not up. Am I paranoid, or are they being pressured not to carry it because it's just a tiny bit controversial? If it's not too much trouble, I'd love it if a few of you on the UK side of the pond could call them and ask if they stock it. The number is 01534 510051.

Apple butter? What do I have to imagine with that? I need more recipes for apples! Though, I think I can make some apple turnovers...
The way he makes apple butter is he peels a bunch of apples (using an Amish-style rotating peeler but his own hand-held peeler blade), slices them, and puts them in the crockpot overnight. The next day he mashes them with a potato masher, adds brown sugar/honey/cinnamon/cloves, amd cooks them all day on low. It's really good, and contains no high-fructose corn syrup.

Ok, both coffee and whiskey are evil then... But I actually do I have coffee at home (I think...)...

Hmm, time to put a corckpot on the list of appliances to get after we finally get to do the kitchen...

So, he cooks it slowly, mash it, add those ingredients and then cooks it again?

When I make apple sauce, I just cook it once, mash it, put some sugar and cinnamon and let it cool down a bit...

"Whisky is a shortened form of usquebaugh, which English borrowed from Irish Gaelic uisce beatha and Scottish Gaelic uisge beatha. This compound descends from Old Irish uisce, "water", and bethad, "of life". and meaning literally "water of life". It meant the same thing as the Latin aqua vītae which had been applied to distilled drinks since early 14th century. Other early spellings include usquebea (1706) and iskie bae (1583). In the Irish Annals of Clonmacnoise in 1405, the first written record of whisky appears describing the death of a chieftain at Christmas from "taking a surfeit of aqua vitae". In Scotland, the first evidence of whisky production comes from an entry in the Exchequer Rolls for 1494 where malt is sent "To Friar John Cor, by order of the king, to make aquavitae"."

So, you can't really call something that was originally called the water of life evil, now can you?

A female tennis player is shown sitting and removing and replacing CHANGING her underwear beneath a towel at the sidelines in front of a crowd of spectators. Nothing lewd, but a bit odd, I would say.
