Well, not it isn't as it has been asked many times and been answered just as many times.

The use of calibre does not cause this. The use of calibre might mean you detect the problem, but, that just means you detect it straight away rather then after a few days of using the device. But, it is not the actual cause of the problem.

The use of calibre might exacerbate the problem. But, mainly because to use calibre, you need to connect to a PC. And the heavier uses of calibre are probably connecting more often. The problem is because of what in what the device is doing, or not doing properly, when preparing to connect, and then what it does after the device has been disconnected. So, if you never connect to a PC, you won't see the issue. If you connect once a week, you might. If you connect daily, you are more likely to see it. If you connect multiple times a day like I do, you are very likely to see it. But, as has been discussed, it isn't that hard to avoid.

But, it should no longer be an issue with firmware version 4.32.19501.

There are bugs on 4.31 & 4.30 on the Sage and Elipsa that are apparently nothing to do with connecting via USB to transfer.
1) Buttons stop working. Swipe usually fixes, otherwise sleep or home.
2) Place is lost in book.
3) Looking at Bluetooth page turns on WiFi
4) The ereader restarting while in Advanced Notebook and the open notebook contents are erased.

Nothing to do with Calibre "drivers" either. One or some of the bugs is related to any USB transfer and might be less often if you are at the home screen when you connect.
5) Database sometimes corrupted. A "Repair Account" in settings sometimes works.

It will be interesting to see 4.32.19501, but the problem is that the only 4.30 & 4.31 bug that's at all reproducible is "Looking at Bluetooth page turns on WiFi". It's all very intermittent. The only other bug I've seen more than once is the Sage buttons stop working.

Yeah, the button bug happens pretty often, but simply touching the screen always fixes it for me, so it's a minor annoyance.

I've not seen the place-losing bug.

Pretty sure that the place losing one is related to database corruption as those are generally linked.

As to the page turning that was around prior to 4.31 and in my experience happens less under 4.31 compared to previous firmware versions.

Place-losing—is that when you read a book but when you go back to the main menu it doesn't save the position? Could be the db is corrupted, but it can also happen if the Kobo gets stuck in read-only and can't write to the db. Related to the dirty unmount problem but I wouldn't be surprised if something else could trigger it.
