Well now there is an easier way to open them. Forget they are in the grocery bag and leave it on the counter. In about an hour the biscuits will open on their own.
You might not want to cook the one that hits the ceiling.

Here are the ingredients.
2 cups flour, 1 tsp salt, 2 tsp baking powder, about 3 tablespoons fat, 1/2 cup milk.
2 knives or pastry blender or your hands.
Mix flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in the fat until it resembles crumbs. Stir in the milk.

Now either roll out on a floured surface or drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet (biscuits), or your chicken in boiling broth. (Drop dumplings). Cook about 20 minutes or until done
If you prefer rolled, 1/2 inch thick for biscuits, 1/8 inch for dumplings.
Cut into squares or use a round cookie cutter for biscuits. Cut into strips about a 1/2 to one inch wide strips by about an inch long.
For biscuits, bake at 425 for about 10-12 minutes. For dumplings, drop in boiling broth and cook about 10 minutes.

Or you could just buy canned biscuits or pre-made pie crust dough. Pillsbury makes a good one. Look in the refrigerated section near the biscuits.
