Unusually for the world weather at the moment it is looking like being a near perfect day here. I am sitting outside having my breakfast (OK it's 10.15 am but I worked late last night!) it's 24C with a very light breeze. The sun is shining,birds are singing (and the inevitable lawn mower has just started up). I think I will just soak it up so that when we get the next heatwave/storm/flood/bushfire I can remember that it does occasionally get better!

We were supposed to have "significant melting" today, day 6. Ha! This is significant melting? It looks soft, but it is as hard as a rock. Those aren't footprints in it -- you can't sink in it -- those are clumps of ice that we threw up there when chipping out the driveway today.

We got some melting here! Will refreeze a bit overnight but in the low 50's for the next few days!

Still cold. We were having snow flurries when I left work. I guess we're in for the normal deep freeze for the next few weeks.

Cold and wet. An underground water pipe broke at my parents. They turned the water off, and we may be digging a trench for repair tomorrow.

I'm having Willie the Well Digger out tomorrow to\ dig up my well head to repair a break. this is still from the issues I started having with the Thanksgiving Storm. I can't trust the shower to actually be able to wash and rinse my hair, need to do it in the tub to make sure I have enough water to get the soap out. it takes a half hour to just fill the tub the way the well has been crippled. very awkward

But it sure looks lovely. Perhaps just the upper layer melted and froze again. brr....

It's 12C here, the rain melting all the snow. I'm sure yesterday I saw some birds returning from their southern migration. The squirrels are frisky and the ducks are pairing up.

Gawd....it ended up 100f today. I'm certainly feeling all of my years in one big day of helping my neighbor move house. It's calmed to a nice 78f. Zoe the spaniel has the right idea. Scratching at the door and being let outside she flopped into the breeze. I'm sitting beside her. Might camp out here for the night.

Baby steps, but we're getting there! The mail carrier still couldn't get to my box this morning, but I stopped her down the road and she handed me my week's worth of mail -- yay! Then I came home and managed to clear a path to my door.

I think tonight we've finally really had "significant melting." It's still above freezing, so if we're lucky and it STAYS above freezing all night maybe we'll be done with this ice once and for all!
