We live halfway up a hill with good drainage. I got all teary this morning when I heard of the little four year old who fell from the rescue boat, and his body had just been found. £$%& was just one of my thoughts. Really pleased to hear from you. Cheers |

Very sad indeed....
We have overcast conditions, a temperature of Plus3 and it's raining onto icy ground....but even these conditions pale into insignificance when placed against those occurring elsewhere... Take care all.....the weather can be a nasty nasty beast.... |

All Australians: take care, and we hope the water will soon go down again, and the rains stops.
![]() We are concerned about your country; there was a big piece in our newspaper today about the floods and rains. We all hope for the best and realize that 10 people dead from the floods are 10 too many. |

My husband finally got home at 11pm last night.
He said there were very few cars on the road and I was able to tell him which roads were closed so he got home safely and without any dramas. The effect the flood had on me today was that I went to work in my local office and remoted in to the computer on my desk in Brisbane. The power to that building has obviously not been cut off yet - I will be in trouble once that happens because I won't be able to log back into that computer. Instead I will have to install a bunch of software onto the local computer and I will lose a whole bunch of site based access. I was able to help out my helpdesk buddies in Adelaide via our instant messaging system. It all felt very surreal. It was sunny this morning and we got up early to go for a walk down at the waterfront. The high tide mark was littered with plastic buckets and debris from boats - include decks and fittings. Someone's porch roof with bits of plasterboard still attached had been washed up. Queensland is going to take a lot of work. We are going to need EVERYONE to volunteer for Clean Up Australia Day this year. Hope eveyone stays safe. I am not going anywhere near those floodwaters. Photos in the internet is close enough for me. Angela |

I hope everyone up north finds solid, dry ground. My father lives in Caboolture and I'm worried, he hasn't called even though I asked my step mother to get him too. I'm hoping it's just a lack of phones or something. Ugh. It's coming down to northern NSW, too.
(I'm in the central west and fine, I don't think we'll flood - though we did in december.) I don't think the country likes us very much sometimes. |

Well we got hit with 15cm of snow last night. It's still falling now. I almost didn't make it to work because some bonehead cut so close to the front of my van he almost hit me. Of course he probably didn't even see me since he didn't clean any of the snow off his little Honda.
To everyone out there in Australia and other areas experiencing terrible weather, I hope you all are able to stay safe and my well wishes are going out to all of you and your families. |

All of this Australia news is devastating -- the only bright spot is that most of our MR members seem to be safe so far. Please keep it that way!
20F (-6C) here this morning, with a windchill of 9F. This snow and ice is going nowhere, so the roads, particularly the side streets, are still bad and it's another snow day for the kids. I may try to drive a little bit after lunch today after the sun comes out and see for myself which roads are best. It won't get above freezing today, but hopefully the sun and wind will cause some evaporation. There have been many complaints about the city/state being unable to keep up with the horrible road conditions, and I saw last night on the news that in downtown Atlanta they have hired construction workers with bobcats and bulldozers to scrape off what ice they could and then dump and spread big truckloads of what appeared to be plain old dirt! ![]() |

Snow warning here, 15-30cm. The ground is blanketed with about 10cm right now. It's expected to all wash away later today or tomorrow when the rain returns.

Cold here today (in the 20's F - with wind chills in the teens) - but the sun is out and the ice is melting. Got into work today - drove most of the way behind a woman obviously terrified of ice - she drove 15 mph with her foot on the brake - on clear pavement. Sigh.
Allegedly will be in the 60's F this weekend! All you Aussies - be safe! |
