Ditto! I just saw some footage tonight on CNN - the flash floods sweeping cars & houses away! It's unbelievable that only 10 people have been lost so far. You Aussies are tough!

I am so glad we moved from a yearly snow area years ago. I don't miss what all of you are experiencing right now. Be careful and stay warm, everyone.

pooh, we were still living in Portland,Oregon when Mt. St. Helens blew. The ash was so thick in Portland that we had to wear face masks and use shovels to clean up ash. The city had water trucks out and street cleaners to try to remove the ash. It was so bad we moved an hour or so south to live and there was still ash there.

Not the lightning that would worry me, but the turbulence caused by the storm. It may take out the electronic equipment and then you would hope that the pilots are VFR trained etc. to be able to get home the old fashioned way.
