Sorry to be thick, but i don't seem to remember having an issue with this before;
unzipped the PRS Installation zip to my PRO DUO card (via the reader- My Computer). removed the card, then re-inserted the card. But no install screen to copy files to my device. I have done a bit of searching and I found a few instances of a missing \database\system\PRSPlus folder, but I have checked my Internal device folder structure and its there alreight (or would this refer to the card? Of worthy note is that my card is not clean, I have several folders that contain my ebooks, and a Sony Reader folder that contains the xml for the card. SD/MS card scanning is enabled on my device. Would I need another installer on the card also or will the PRS+ installer folder contain the files I need in itself?, the notes ont he google development site dont say anything other than move the contents of the zip onto the card. Thanks in advance for any assistance, I could imagine that there is a manual installation also is this simple to do in laymans terms? |

PRS+ Installer's first screen looks like this: ![]() Other folders could not be the problem. (unless you have too many of them/ use non Latin letters, so that the reader bugs and doesn't see part of the filesystem) The folder structure on your MS/SD card after extracting the installer should look like this: Code:
├─PRSPInstaller
│ └─Sony Reader
│ └software
│ ├─firmware
│ │ └─505
│ ├─languages
│ ├─script
│ │ └─addons
│ │ ├─FiveBalls
│ │ │ └─skins
│ │ ├─Mahjong
│ │ │ └─skins
│ │ └─Sudoku
│ │ ├─skins
│ │ └─sudoku
installer.js piAssets.png autorun.xml As you are the first user that tries to install it using memory stick, it could be that there is a bug in installer code that prevents it from starting from MS card. |

Kartu, will your localization also include regular/original (non-PRS+) strings?

One more thing... I've seen it claimed that the PRS-505 screen (and others like it) could actually achieve better contrast, if the firmware permitted them to perform a longer/more thorough screen refresh. Is that true? What files would one mess around to test that? And would it be safe to fool around with that? Obviously I wouldn't be willing to wait 2-3 seconds during page turns... but I might be fine with a 50% slowdown, if the visual impact is sufficiently noticeable. Joember |

hmm,
I think that this is a personal issue with my device rather than a bug on your install, although I might be wrong. I just tried to install via SD card and I still get no install menu prompt. I have re-inserted and disconnected a few times, leaving a few minutes for the card to be read/removed. Should I not have any root files other than the PRSPInstaller folder?, so the autorun files are run via the folder not the root? |

Very strange. Is PRSPInstaller folder visible via Browse Folders? Does it contain all necessary subfolders as mentioned in post #707? If yes, sounds like disabled SD/MS card scanning, but you say you've enabled it... Anyway, extract the attached file to your /database/system/PRSPlus/addons folder on internal memory. Then go to Games & Utilities menu, prs+ installer should appear there as an option. PS If it stucks instead of opening the PRS+ Installer, don't worry, just connect reader to USB port, if that doesn't help, reset, the problem will be gone. Hi,
I just tested the new installer and it works really great so far. I had some trouble with the german translation though: - there are some typos in the german translation, the fixed file is attached - there is also a typo in the installer autorun.xml, it says "Deutch" instead of "Deutsch" - the german text for WORKING_DONTPOWEROFF is a few characters too long for the line, so the last word is cut off ("ausschal..."). Would it be possible to make the text next to the icon multi-line? Thanks again for the great work, Duglum |

Am I right in assuming that this means it's not decompilable and/or decompilable only to assembly language?

Thanks for the javascript file Kartu, when I place it within the Internal structure, the menu item appears, however when I click on (3) for the PRS+ Installer I get the little (-) icon flash at the bottom of the reader for 'invalid command'

It means that it couldn't find the file (or one of the required files) on sd card: "/PRSPInstaller/Sony Reader/software/autorun.xml" (or file was damaged) Sorry, I forgot to mention, it could only be used to start it from SD card. If you want to start it from MS card edit the following line: kbook.autoRunRoot.path = "b:/PRSPInstaller/Sony Reader/software/autorun.xml"; and replace b:/ with a:/ Could you please post a screenshot of what you have in: "/PRSPInstaller/Sony Reader/software/" folder? PS You might need to reset the reader (if just connecting to PC won't help) to get rid of an invisible installer frame that wasn't fully loaded. Last edited by kartu; 03-08-2010 at 10:23 AM. |
