And another newbie question... I have 2 e-pub books that I've purchased some years ago from App store,but I have no iphone right now (and only Android). So I couldn't open them ,cause they are DRM-protected too. How could I remove that DRM or could someone to point me in which topic to ask that question?

I don't think there's a current solution for Apple's ebook DRM. But I could be wrong. The Apple Devices forum is probably the best place to ask on MobileRead. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=170

You won't get detailed help on MobileRead, but if there's a solution you can get links to it.

Well, shoot. It's been a long time since I used this method so I just tried to dl a book again and I got an unsupported version error (K4A). I'm using the original files mentioned in the first post. Should I update K4A?

I did the original install, grabbed the backup for the key and then updated to Kindle for Android version 8.51.1.0 which, so far, has not refused to download any books. I will admit that I won't be surprised if I go to download a book and get told I need to update K4A but so far no need.

The first message mentions this.

Hmm...I downloaded a couple of books, but there are no .prc files. This means they're KFX, right? What to do now?
I feel like an idiot because I actually already had 8.51.1.0 set up and I swear it worked before.

So far I am not getting KFX files though I am using a batch file run while Bluestacks is running to copy the files to my computer from Bluestack's virtual storage.

Do the files you are getting have a .kfx extension?

Are you using the same BlueStacks version as DNSB?

My understanding is that although Kindle for Android 8.51.1.0 supports KFX, a bug in its emulation under BlueStacks causes the app to fallback to using older formats instead. That might not happen if your system is setup differently.

No, no KFX extensions. The ones that normally would have .prc have .phl instead. BS 5.11.40.1003 as Android 11.
I also need to mention something - and this is a little embarrassing. I didn't have any problems installing the original setup once DuckieTigger explained a couple things to me. However, my health has declined since then and my mind is just not clear anymore. I've had to back off participating in most discussions and so on, for example. I'm not trying to be difficult or make you do all the work - I just don't understand anymore. Once I get this working, I will have to keep using it or I will forget - again. Sorry.

A phl file is just the "popular highlights". So not an actual book. Is there another file with no extension? You may have known file type extensions hidden.

When I look at the BlueStacks version, it shows 5.11.1.1004 P64 though I don't know if that will make any difference.

Here's a image of what the batch file I use pulls over for an ebook downloaded from Amazon in BlueStacks.

@lkmiller - I have all extensions visible. Never had a problem seeing .prc before.

I think I understand now/again. BS 5.11.40.1003 N32 is fine with K4A 4.16.0.75 but only for certain books (up to some 2024 releases). Using a version of K4A any higher won't deliver a .prc regardless of the BS version. You can only download for reading within the app.
If I get an unsupported version error, I need to use K4PC.

This sucks so bad. Last week I understood this.
