I've not heard of the author, but the book has such a neat premise, I'm sharing it anyway.

Bedbugs by Ben H. Winters is $1.99 at Amazon US. Ben is also the author of the apocalyptic mystery trilogy The Last Policeman.

The story sounds a little silly, but there's a nice interview where he says his influences for this book are Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist and The Amityville Horror. Slow burn stories set in a very domestic situation.

The photo below is one of an actual bed bug on the prowl. They love to feast on feet and legs as they enjoy their tasty meals. As you can see, they grow to enormous size!

Why did I think Rick's Bedbugs was a short story collection?

I need to read more of his work. I have a number of his books, but so far I've only read Winter Wake and Night Stone.

I remember one of my earliest e-book purchases was Unticigahunk: The Complete Little Brothers. That one and The Mountain King have been on my TBR since forever.

Yes, you're right: It IS a short story collection. I really like Rick Hautala. He was also from Maine, by the way, just like that other guy - sorry, I can't remember his name...was it Stephen L. King? I read Night Stone when it came out. (Was that the one with a 3D cover?)

But I have yet another tasty bedbug for you. I've had this one for 6 years, and I've never read it! It kind of looks like a vampire bedbug. I would definitely NOT put this one in a cage full of parakeets!
