First, thanks for the reply!
Then, I guess I'm up to date in term of firmware. But unfortunately it does not solve my big stylus issue. |

I'm quite interested in when Onyx will release new ereaders using the iMX7 processor?
According to Michael of GoodEReader it would bring quite a revolution. http://goodereader.com/blog/electron...dustry-in-2015 |

Can someone please tell me where is this ROOT folder where I am supposed to copy the update.zip ?
I don't have it neither on my M96 (Booxtor version) or SD card. |

It's been awhile since I've updated, but root folder doesn't usually mean a folder called root. For example, if you read "go to the root folder of your sd card" it would mean goto your sd card. As in, don't go into any sub-directories that you might find on the drive, just click on the sd card, or goto wherever the sd card is mounted (/mnt/extsd on some systems).

I see.
Well, I put the update.zip on my sd card and directly in M96 but it doesn't work. When I go to settings>.....>update from local storage it can't find anything. When I go through the storage menu and 'physically' find the update.zip file and click on it then the procedure starts but I get some errors: Finding update package... Opening update package... Verifying update package... Installing update.... Checking Update Package Matching assert failed blablabla E: Error in /cache/update.zip (Status 7) Installation aborted. For M96 , I86 and T68 series : Copy update.zip in your root folder (i.e. the top level on the internal SD card, as opposed to the external SD card) Thereafter Settings - > About - > System Update - > Check Update from Local Storage |

Oops, sorry. I was thinking it would be the external sd because I always wipe everything for new versions.

Problems with 2015-10-19 update on M96
After updating, several of my apps didn't work anymore:
Astro file manager: force closes on start DS File (Synology app): force closes on start LectureNotes: force closes on opening a note MyHomeButton: force closes on start Quickcopy: force closes on start Squid: force closes on start StayAlive: force closes on start. After reverting back to the 2014-09-26 version I had been using, the problems persisted. So I went back to factory settings (deleted the contents of my M96), installed the 2015-10-19 firmware, and re-installed my apps manually. Everything works fine, possibly faster than under the old firmware. LectureNotes, in particular, is as usable as it was under the 2014-09-26 firmware (and never since). I am very pleased - although a change log would be helpful! Last edited by Jmirko; 10-28-2015 at 08:42 AM. Reason: Combined original post and subsequent updates |

As a T68 user I can only agree 100% with you: Changelogs would indeed be very helpful, and how wonderful it would be if updates didn't have to result in having to resetting one's device and reinstalling the wanted external apps. Phones and tablets manage to run an "optimizing Android App" routine as conclusion to updates and you don't have to reset and reinstall. Why this is not so with our e-ink devices, I can't quite understand.

It looks to me like there'll be an Android 4.4. KitKat fror the T68 in the foreseeable future. http://ereader-store.de/de/content/8-downloads
I guess I'll wait for that, instead of installing the october update at the present time. |

Can anyone confirm whether or not the new update fixes the T68's bootloops when battery life gets "low"?

So looking forward to KitKat it was the main reason that I bought my M96C back in February. Updates since then have been nothing but disappointment often breaking more than they improve.

Hi all.
I managed to update my M96 ereader with the latest update, but now every time I start him he gets some error "google play services not working". Any idea how to fix that ? Last edited by Ivan Grozny; 11-09-2015 at 11:18 AM. |
