My wife is with you on this -- of course, she's not jealous about it -- but she had barricaded herself upstairs in the television room, watching the Oscars, and I had the kitchen to myself!

Just had a salad, now to have an apple (a Stayman Winesap, my favorite variety) and do a little reading before bed.

I would just as soon eat Balut, and I really, really can't stand Balut!

Dinner was tasty: turkey chilli, green beans, corn, and a G&T with local gin.

A pear drop.

But last night I had roast leg of lamb with roast potatoes, mashed parsnip, steamed kale and green peas. Follow by a chocloate orange tofu mousse* dessert. Yum.

It's interesting to note that every country sells this, but with different flavors and slightly different names.

In the U.S. it's "Cup-o-Noodle" with typical American style flavors; 'with shrimp,' 'with beef,' 'with pork,' etc. In Japan it's called "Cup Noodles" and the flavors are Japanese dishes 'seafood,' 'curry,' 'plain with soy sauce,' etc. Here in Thailand, we get 'Tom Yam Minced Pork,' 'Tom Yam Kung (shrimp,)' 'Spicy Duck,' 'Garlic Pork & Chicken,' etc. There is a Wiki page listing all the different countries and their own flavors of this instant ramen.

Oh stitchawl I can truly say that is truly saddening. There is nothing I love most but bottled spanish sardines. But it cannot be the end of you, trust me, there could still be hope for you. I previously disliked chicken but afterwards I grew up on it. So it could be an acquired taste you get from immunizing yourself to it.

Although I still couldn't imagine your predicament, but I feel your frustration.

Good luck!

Thanks, Lin, but I'd rather work on learning to like Beluga caviar...

This morning - Pad Grapow Gai, Yum Mu Yaw, and a hard-cooked egg.

That one's the closest.

Two cans of turkey chili, without beans.
Two cans of rinsed beans (tonight it was Roman beans)
Two onions, diced
Three medium peppers (tonight it was green, red, and yellow), diced
Three ribs of celery, diced.

Starting with the canned stuff keeps it from being fully homemade, of course, but I like the variety of flavors and textures that different types of beans add. And, the other fresh items are good, too. Sometimes I add chopped tomatoes, sometimes some corn.

I only make fully homemade chili when I have a day to put everything in the crock pot.
