Just finished "Awakening: Dead Forever, Book 1" by our very own William Campbell! It had a matrix-y feeling to it, and was pretty darn engaging throughout. It's the first in a series.
My review here. |

I finished "The Big Short" by Michael Lewis, which I really enjoyed (although some people might not be able to stomach it, it follows those who end out profiting on the economic collapse by predicting it when no one else did). Now I've started "The Rape of Europa" by Lynn H. Nicholas, which is about the "ravaging" of artwork in Europe during WWII. A little dry, but interesting. Probably not as enjoyable if you don't have some art history background.

Just started reading
Crime Novels: American Noir of the 1930s and 40s: The Postman Always Rings Twice / They Shoot Horses, Don't They? / Thieves Like Us / The Big Clock / Nightmare ... a Dead Man (Library of America) (Vol 1) because I wanted to read Horace McCoy's "They Shoot Horses Don't They?" which is really great so far. The other novellas in the collection look interesting as well. - Regina Kindle Edition of Outsmart the Unexpected (Challenging and unusual dilemmas to solve your way out of) Resources on Creativity, Creative Problem Solving, Critical Thinking , and More |

I'm getting that feeling of déjà vu, again
![]() I've nearly reached the end of Kafka's Trial, which I'm enjoying, nevertheless I find nature far more fascinating than fiction, so you may well have steered me towards my next e-read. Thanks! ![]() |

I just finished (technically)Dead by our own Nomesque, and thoroughly enjoyed it -- it's even better than Dead(ish) in my opinion! More, we want more!
![]() It put me in a delightfully macabre mood, so I've moved on to Darkly Dreaming Dexter. I've only read a few chapters, but loving it so far! |

I just finished another book- difficult to put down, a really engaging read! It's called "The Noble Pirates" and it's a time-traveling, historical fiction, strong woman character type of book. My review here!

If you liked Alice, you might like The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O'Farrell. It's about a woman who gets locked away in an insane asylum for being "headstrong" and who is released 60 years later to the care of a great niece when they sell off the asylum to make a housing project. Written from the points of view of the three main characters in the story - none of them know the whole story about what happened except the reader. |
