Yesterday, I got my cover. It fits great and is light. I like having a hinged cover versus the sleeve for the S1. There is an adhesive patch which holds the RP1 in place. The adhesive can be renewed by wetting it.

I have no desire to hack the device. The RP1 works perfectly for me and allows me to take notes and create designs for the software I'm getting paid to write, LOL. The browser performance looks ok but I wouldn't enjoy the experience and would always surf with something else. That's just my opinion, man.

Of course. The RP1 should be perfect for his usecase.
I hope Sony brings back some of the navigation and display options that the S1 had. Mine is back at B&H. I don't want to wait too long for a replacement. I'm curious if they have units in stock to replace my RP1?!

Seems IAP140 is another name of PXA1908 used on some android phones, kernel code could be found on github. As info found from google, the date this chip been used is around from 2015 to 2016, so its possible there's a android L inside, but from SONY opensource site, there's package from ubuntu and debian, this is kind of confused.

Replacement Tips

Hi everyone,

Sorry to break the flow of the discussion, or if this was asked previously, but seeing as both Amazon and B&H are out of replacement tips right now, does anyone know of any alternatives?

I've just about used up the four tips that came with the device and my B&H order has been "processing" for the last week and a half.

Any ideas, or do we just wait for a new supply?

Those kind of auxiliary accessories tend to hit the market first a few months after the device since makers don't expect any demand for them before that.

The ones sold in Japan states made in China on the box, I assume the same for the English version.

Has anybody tried an S1 tip? The shafts look to be the same diameter even though the tips are bigger on the RP1 tips. I might try one. I suppose it could just fall out.

I'm pretty sure there was a post earlier in the thread saying that unfortunately they aren't compatible.

Yeah, I just tried with the hard elastomer one and it does not fit, never mind that it is much longer than the new tips.

Yea, I remember reading that as well. I think LarryNYC tried it out if I'm not mistaken.

I've been using the device on a daily basis since I've had it, and the four nibs have just about all worn down. Amazon doesn't have any stock, and my B&H order has been processing for two weeks now.

I don't mean to complain, but the tips are pretty essential for the device, and I wonder if they're truly an auxiliary piece in that sense.

Still enjoying the device regardless, and I suppose these supply-chain issues are understandable in a popular, new device like this one.
