I was blaming Boeing for their belief that the pilots would not require any retraining on the differences between the older 737 and the 737 MAX controls.

I do wonder how they'll pay for those planes though, another prime price increase? They may have started to price people out of prime perhaps?

Could be. Maybe Amazon should buyout FedEx or UPS instead of creating its own air delivery.

That might cost a bit much though. UPS market cap is 70B-ish, FedEx is 43B-ish.
And you generally need to pay more than a company's worth to buy it.
And given the political climate regarding Amazon, the government might not allow it.

Buying the planes is a way to reduce the cost of providing the service.

Amazon Loses FedEx Express Deliver

Amazon better double down on its Prime Air drones. With Amazon Prime Day just a few weeks away, FedEx today announced that it's partially ending its relationship with Amazon.

The company said it will not renew its domestic FedEx Express contract with Amazon so that it can work with other retailers. Deliveries made via FedEx's Express service typically arrive overnight or in two to three days.

"FedEx has made the strategic decision to not renew the FedEx Express U.S. domestic contract with Amazon.com, Inc. as we focus on serving the broader e-commerce market," the company said via a written statement.

It's not clear how this may affect Prime member purchases. According to FedEx's statement, Amazon accounted for less than 1.3% of FedEx's revenue in 2018. Moreover, FedEx will still provide Amazon with other delivery services such as FedEx Ground and FedEx's international services.

Nevertheless, the news is sure to throw a wrench in Amazon's plans to roll out 1-day deliveries. It could also cause some shipping lag on big shopping days like Amazon Prime Day.

Amazon did not immediately respond to our request for comment.

Most items fulfilled by Amazon will qualify for a free return option. For customers who prefer to choose a packaged drop off option, that choice will remain in addition to other options, some which may require a fee. All return options will be clearly shown in the Returns Center to ensure customers can select the available option that best suits their needs.

Curious if this will be a permanent change....Amazon seems to have combined a couple of options and is now offering me the $1 digital discount for choosing delivery on my weekly Amazon Day - no rush is gone completely. A few months ago they were offering to deliver add-on items on that day, without the $25 minimum order, but that disappeared fairly quickly. Maybe just testing to find what will get people to use the weekly option?

Just as a guess, they are still trying things out to see what works and what doesn't.
