Into the Water by Paula Hawkins is $2.99 at Amazon, Kobo and B&N US.

Was Hawkins a flash in the pan? I read The Girl on the Train and enjoyed it (avoid the awful movie though!).

Quote:
An addictive novel of psychological suspense from the author of #1 New York Times bestseller and global phenomenon The Girl on the Train and A Slow Fire Burning.

A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged.

Left behind is a lonely fifteen-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from—a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

With the same propulsive writing and acute understanding of human instincts that captivated millions of readers around the world in her explosive debut thriller, The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins delivers an urgent, twisting, deeply satisfying read that hinges on the deceptiveness of emotion and memory, as well as the devastating ways that the past can reach a long arm into the present.

Beware a calm surface—you never know what lies beneath.

Yeah, I heard a lot of bad things and multiple POV's in her follow-up, so never bothered to check it out. Did enjoy The Girl on the Train though.

Mother Midnight is now £2.99 at Kindle UK. Not a great sale price, but it's still the most recent in Doherty's Hugh Corbett series, and aside from it's UK-typical very brief drop to £0.99 a year-ish ago (which I missed), eReaderIQ doesn't show it as ever having been lower.

Death in the Clouds is the 12th (if you count a book of short stories) in Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot series. It's $1.99 right now in the US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FC1PFM
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/death-in-the-clouds

Spoiler:
Quote:
Hercule Poirot must solve a perplexing case of midair murder in Death in the Clouds when he discovers that the woman in seat two of the airborne aeroplane he’s traveling on is quite unexpectedly—and unnaturally—deceased.

From seat No. 9, Hercule Poirot was ideally placed to observe his fellow air passengers on the short flight from Paris to London. Over to his right sat a pretty young woman, clearly infatuated with the man opposite; ahead, in seat No. 13, sat a countess with a poorly concealed cocaine habit; across the gangway in seat No. 8, a writer of detective fiction was being troubled by an aggressive wasp.

Yes, Poirot is almost ideally placed to take it all in, except what he did not yet realize was that behind him, in seat No. 2, sat the slumped, lifeless body of a woman. Murdered, and likely by someone in Poirot’s immediate proximity.

The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman bills itself in its blurb as a "fantasy mystery series", but it feels more like fantasy to me so I posted there. But here's a cross-link: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh....php?p=4315071

Oh yeah, and I posted it because it's free right now at Kindle UK...

Three years later, Homicide Trinity is $1.99 again in the US, and it's also £0.99 at Kindle UK. The links below are still good for the US, and here's the link for Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003TSEKG0

In any case, Trinity has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. Stout's books don't go on sale very often in the US, so grab it while you can!

I loved her Murder by the Month cozy series based in Central Minnesota. I have not yet read any of her non-cozy works, but here's a chance to try.
