Hi everyone,

Just dipping my toe into the Mobileread waters. I'm busy working on the 4th book in my Hunchback Assignments series, a Victorian steampunk sci-fi series for YA. And slowly converting my out of print work into eBooks.

A new assignment...

I've been working with an old friend-turned-movie producer on something new: He's asked me to collaborate on a script for a television concept.

It is based on a 70s sci-fi "B" movie (which I am not at liberty to name at this point), which we hope to expand and develop into a serious and modern SF miniseries. We're trying to combine the iconic elements of the original movie with brand new elements that fill out the somewhat thin original premise and give it depth and (dare I say it?) sense. We hope to sell it to pay-cable in miniseries form.

As I've never written a TV or movie script, this is proving tricky for me, but I think the project has enough going for it to make it worth my while to dig into it. Not to mention, the possibility that it could lead to future work in television or movie scripting.

I'm still working on my draft sequel to Verdant Skies, but it has been pushed back by this new project, I don't know by how much.

Hi everyone - still first day here.

I'm currently editing a novel about a serial killer murdering ministers in Upstate New York called The Coppersmith. I hope to have it finished in the next week or so, and available as an e-book by April.

Also writing the second mile of Jefferson's Road, called Patriots and Tyrants. I've only got another 10K words or so before it's finished. Then I get to EDIT (Oh hooray ).

I'm also nearly finished with the sequel to The Lost Scrolls (coming in March 2012 from Ellechor Publishing) called The Elixir of Life. Contractually, I have to send everything related to my protagonist, Dr. Jonathan Munro, to them, so we'll see whether or not they want it first.

I'm writing a short story about a man who seems to be touched by the hand of God in the form of an opportunity that he is given, an opportunity that places him at the center of the world's attention. It is about religion and science and technology, and the 24/7 news machine that consumes everything it touches.

Update: I've decided to let that project percolate. I am getting ready to write a sequel to my first novel. Besides that I am republishing old blog stuff and also putting together another brief memoir, this one about growing up in the 50s. (The first dealt with my time in the Army.)

Working on a story for an anthology at the moment, about a Writer who is in a funk and starts seeing his characters appearing in real life. Problem being only he can see them, which is all well and good until the Ninjas appear...

Yes its a comedy...

Makes a nice change of pace from Paranormal Action Adventure and Fairy tales.

Hi kids! Miss me?

I'm still here....I know it's been forever and a day, but I've been busy. Finally finished the draft of Hills and the outlines of Psychic and Night Watch...Black is coming back from Beta Readers within the next week, and Ashes is at 50%

Sometimes it's so much better to write than talk. =)

I am currently working on book two in a fantasy series.
The first book is called The Crystal Warrior.

Book two starts up right where book one left off, and is
pretty intense.

Here's the info for book one:

Larissya's life changes forever when her Grandmother gives her a magic crystal that shows her glimpses of the future. Hunted by mercenaries and an evil group known as the Triad, she is rescued by a large brute of a man named Talos and his band of diminutive followers.

She soon discovers that everyone thinks she is the one referred to in legend as The Crystal Warrior. And that her destiny is to gather the magic crystals and lead an epic battle against the Triad. A battle that will determine the fate of Agorai itself. But she doesn't yet believe that she is the one.

The Triad has other plans. Plans that involve capturing the crystals and using their powers for themselves. Plans that involve murder, madness and pain. They have been waiting a long, long time for the Warrior to awaken.

From the magic swords Shakari and Antare, to the gigantic reptilian bird known as Taradahn, to the mysterious worm of power called Ishak, to the magnificent tree city of Frizl, Larissya's story is full of wonder - and darkness.

Will she triumph over the forces of evil?
Will she obtain the power of the crystals?
Will she be able to save her friends?
Or will they die at her side?

Verdant Pioneers: the sequel to Verdant Skies

I've had a lull in the TV script project, allowing me to get back to editing/proofing Verdant Pioneers, the sequel to Verdant Skies. My current draft of a blurb:

A year after the planet-destabilizing eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera, the satellite Verdant remains far outside the Solar System, searching daily for the supplies it needs to sustain itself. But some of Verdant's residents want desperately to return to Earth, no matter the cost. Julian Lenz and the command staff find their attention split between those who want to leave Verdant... those who seek to disable it, to force its return to Earth... and those whose deep-space discovery may have given Verdant, and humanity, a new lease on life!

But the book's been pulled now. I honestly don't know if it will ever see release.

I'm working on two film scripts, but also trying to finish up Book Three in my 'Morpheus Initiative' series about psychic archaeologists. (Book 1: THE PHAROS OBJECTIVE, Book 2: THE MONGOL OBJECTIVE, Book 3... title TBD). I've written half of it, then put it aside since my publisher was slow in putting out the first two, and I'm in no hurry to finish this. I need that deadline factor to move me along!

Sarah's Spaceship Adventure

I working on two books to be published as ebooks. One is called "Sarah's Spaceship Adventure"

Pall’s Poem

A little while later the visitors prepared to leave. Bekee had a moment alone with Sarah.
“So, you and Captain Swiftcar are just friends?” she asked sarcastically. “I bet the Great Captain had a laugh about that. You could have told me the truth.”
“Bekee, it’s complicated,” Sarah replied in a subdued voice to avoid being overheard. Then impulsively she reached out and hugged the younger girl.
“Listen,” she said. “Edsson wants to join the Space Police, so there’s no use blasting in that direction. But Jommie’s really nice, and he’s been eyeing you ever since you got here.”
“Really?” said Bekee as she glanced at Jommie.
“Really,” Sarah replied.
“How do you let a guy know that you like him?” Bekee asked.
“Let’s see,” said Sarah. “Tomorrow night is the Captain’s Day celebration, right?” Bekee nodded.
“Tell Jommie that you’re a little afraid of being in such a big crowd,” Sarah suggested. “Ask him if you can slide with him. If he agrees, then, when the crowd gets dense, grab his hand and hold on. Guys always like to be the hero.”
Bekee nodded again. “I’ll try it,” she said, as Edsson was calling her to the tube.
Their visitors slid into the tube. A few minutes later, it disengaged and shortly after that, the hopper moved away. Pall and Sarah looked at each other.
“Okay, crew, back to work,” said Pall.
“Aye, aye, Captain,” Sarah answered with a salute.
An hour later, Sarah was loading the bin of niblicks when her rom dinged. When she checked it, she found that Pall had texted the poem that he owed her.

I don’t pretend that I know a lot,
About the world in which you slide.
It’s hard to speak to people, you know
I’d rather go spacing and hide.

But I see that it makes you happy,
To hang out with a group.
And I know that you never mind,
When the group becomes a troop.

So, I stay by your side and wait to see,
If your eyes will turn to me.

Sarah read the poem and reread it several times. Then she wiped the moisture from her eyes and got back to work.

I'm currently working on a paranormal story. It's a very bloody, violent, and very adult tale featuring vampires and at least one werewolf. Though there are a few romantic elements, there is no human-vampire love story. All of the characters are either very psychologically damagedor very evil.

I'm working on a post-apocalyptic transhuman sci-fi novella. Some of the other characters are whispering at me that they have their own stories they'd like to share, so I'm thinking it's the start of a series of novella-length tales.

Currently working on the 3rd part of a Space-Opera saga which will be the final part. Impossible odds, larger than life characters, the odd space battle, desperate race against time and a smattering of jocular one-liners...

What's not to like?

Cheers,

Drew.
