Yes, I agree completely. His other works are all good reads too.

I finished The Book of Illumination by Mary Ann Winkowski and Maureen Foley last night. It was okay, I expected a ghost story whilst it was a story with ghosts in it (not necessarily a bad thing). I don't know why but I couldn't really get into the story and it took me longer to read it than other books this length.

I started with The Cabinet of Curiosities by Preston and Child. Read the first 40 pages whilst I only planned to read the intro/first chapter last night. I forgot to charge my reader last night so I now have to wait another 3 hours before I can continue reading.

And it was very good fun. But do read them in order, starting with The Witches of Karres

And now onto something else I expect to enjoy: The Complete Hammer's Slammers, Volume 2 by David Drake.

I read the first a short while ago, and expect this is more of the same. Great.

Finished "The Elves of Cinta" by Terry Brooks. It's been a year since I read the first novel in the "Genesis of Shannara" trilogy so I couldn't remember what was going on in the first book aside from some vague recollections and the characters seeming familiar. It wouldn't have killed them to include a short summary of what happened in the previous book.

Now starting on "The Gypsy Morph", the third title in the trilogy. At least this time I'll have an idea of what's going on...

Done- I use the Follow button at the top of the page rather than the Follow with Google Connect-if I do that I end up following myself!
I now have a snippet of your blog on mine, so when you make a new post it shows up as a small thumbnail of the image you use.

I've enjoyed two books by Henning Mankell (Swedish translations):

One Step Behind

and

Faceless Killers

They are two in a short series of Kurt Wallander mysteries. One Step Behind was shown as an international #1 bestseller and was a good page-turner.

I'm reading "Unsolicited" by Julie Kaewert, the first in her Book Lovers mystery series. It was published in 1994, so it's pretty dated (car phones??). Not too bad, we'll see how it pans out. Only the first is available in ebook, the rest are only in paperback.

I'm currently reading David McKafee's 33AD, and am enjoying it. Quite an original idea for a vampire novel (and well written.)

I finished "The Theory of Everything" by Stephen Hawking yesterday morning. Then started off with William Campbells "Awakening: Dead Forever Book 1". Though after abt 200 locations, it didn't really "catch", so it's on hold.
I'm currently just below 200 locations in "Nomadin" by Shawn Cormier, of which I bought the trilogy off of Smashwords.

@JoelArnold:
Your signature got me curious, so I directed myself to Amazon and bought "Fetal Bait Apocalypse; 3 Collections in 1". The short stories I plan to read "inbetween" and when having a break from the longer books.

Reading The Room by Emma Donoghue. Story of an abducted/imprisoned woman who has a child by the abductor. The child has only known his "room". The story is told from the child's perspective.

Striking similarities to The Collector by Fowles. The abduction sequence seems to be the same; "come look at my puppies in the back of this van".

I've had a yen to return to the "classics" - in particular Henry James.
Read the novella "The Altar of the Dead" last night - what a treat to meander through that syntax, unpacking the layers of meaning and misdirection, where every word was chosen precisely and accurately. Challenging yet soothing for the brain.
