Where is the real sails hiding? Predator does have regular wind activated sails. In the picture they are folded up, but you should see them somewhere ...

You'll need to ask that question of the artist.

I can't even wait to start this damn book. I've been a single dad for two weeks as my wife is away, so I haven't had time for anything. Well except binge watching My Little Pony and reading "Brown Bear Brown Bear" for the billionth time.

Jim says that the current plan is to release a new book every 6 months alternating between The Cinder Spires and The Dresden Files.

Simply wait to finish the book until the next book is released. This way you can jump in without waiting ...

If you haven't tried Dresden Files yet, you could try that to make the wait shorter until next book is released or reread. It is exactly the same as Cinder Spires except a few little minor differences. You still have all the snarks and great story telling. Jim's books are all very similiar. Each series (Dresden, Alera, Cinder Spires) is well thought through start to finish. Check out his writing style and character / world building, and the only difference between the books are names and subject matter.

I have read about a quarter now (Monster Hunter Nemesis came first) and I like the book. However, I don't get what is steampunk about it. It is just a fantasy setting, not specific steampunk as I depict it. The 'steampunk' things that are in it, could also already be found in earlier fantasy of the 70's and 80's.

From wikipedia
Quote:
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction and sometimes fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.
Means you get all machinery before electricity and combustion engines.

I have read the Dresden Files. That is why I picked up The Aeronauts Windlass in the first place.

Cool Donor Spotlight: Jim Butcher

http://www.mopitbullrescue.org/
Quote:

Donor Spotlight: Jim Butcher

September 23, 2015

We've surpassed the halfway mark of funding our new shelter and that is in no small part thanks to author and dog lover, Jim Butcher. Jim is the author of the Dresden Files, the Codex Alera, and a new steampunk series, the Cinder Spires. He has been a long-time supporter of Missouri Pit Bull Rescue and his generosity has saved the lives of hundreds of pit bulls.

Today we'd like to honor the passing of his dog, Frostbite Doomreaver McBane Butcher (Frost). Frost was small but ferocious. Jim even created a character in one of his novels based on what Frost most likely imagined himself to be.

Frostbite Doomreaver McBane Butcher is the honorary guardian of MPR dogs. A HUGE thank you to Jim and all who have donated in Frost's honor. Rest in peace, Frost. You will be missed.
