I've spent a good portion of my last several day going over the galleys for my next novel, St. Martin's Moon, a werewolf adventure set on a lunar colony. Just recently I had another short story released into the wild web, making three in the last few months. 'Ex Libris' is a strange little tale of commando librarians and the things they do to keep us safe from the products of our own imaginations. I have a bunch of URLs here:

When I have time I'm working on another story, which may be a novel, called Ghostkiller, about a man whose job it is to, you guessed it, kill ghosts.

My son did that to me back when he was three. I whipped up a story about eggs and dinosaurs. Never wrote it down, though. Maybe I should.

I am now working on a draft for a following storyline:

"On one dreadful night at a bar Marcus decides to drive home, drunk. After causing a fatal accident and entering an emotional downward spiral caused by his guilt for causing death to an unknown woman, through multiple near-death experiences he discovers earth-shattering truth about life, fate and how we accept everything we experience for what they seem to be."

What do you think? Did it catch your interest?

I'm writing a story about a young girl's first years at a magic academy. It's not that Harry Potter type of magic though, it's more like that Gandalf type of magic!

A slight wind rustled through the trees branches and breezed towards Rebecca, slightly lifting the curls of her long brown hair. She breathed in the cool wind and tasted a familiar yet unknown flavor in the air. The arrow on her parchment disappeared. The scry had begun.

Rebecca knew very little about the circle of green magic. The academy sent her a short history of the school a few weeks ago, which also contained a note explaining that the book was to be read in its entirety before her first scry. She thought the book was kind of boring, there was a great deal of names in the book, the history of the academy, who built what building, Rebecca skipped over all those sections. But there was also descriptions of the various circles in the books appendix, Rebecca pored over these descriptions even though they were only a paragraph or two, she memorized each and every one. Her mind recalled the entry for green magic, the life force verdant as she stood at the edges of the grove,

"There is a force undulating beneath all living things, initiates to the verdant school, the green magic of life and growth will come to understand this force and learn to manipulate it towards their will."

The trees began to creak as their branches twisted into new shapes and the wind suddenly shifted direction, back towards the grove. As the breeze blew through each tree a note was heard, each tree had shaped itself for the wind, to play a note as the wind blew through. The melody was unfamiliar to Rebecca but she found it pleasing and walked into the grove.

There was no trail at first, the ground was covered with leaves and roots, but as she walked through the grove, the wind at her back swept down, picking up the leaves and revealing a path. Rebecca stepped over one of the roots in her way, but suddenly the wind howled violently through the branches above her. Her mind told her NO!. She had entered a maze, with only the roots at her feet for walls, all paths were seen, but only one way was right. A single blade of grass grew from the soil beneath her feet.

Rebecca bent down to inspect the blade, bringing her face as close to its glowing green as she could without physically touching it. The blade was new and delicate, the force of her thoughts alone were enough to manipulate the blade's growth. This thought surprised Rebecca for she did not think thoughts were capable of such things. She spread the fingers of her hands apart and encircled the blade between her palms. Willing the grass to grow,

"You are a perfect blade, and will grow strong, your brothers and sisters will help you along." As she chanted, the blade twisted and turned, lifting itself out of the ground. New blades appeared alongside the old, one at first and then another. Soon there were too many to count and Rebecca had to move back a bit lest she encroach upon their growth. A line of grass appeared and cut through the maze, twisting itself among the roots. Rebecca took her first step along her path, towards her future.

Right now I'm taking some time off from writing Hal Spacejock book 5. Instead I'm writing a series of three middle-grade science fiction novels featuring the same character as a ten-year-old.

The first book is currently out with beta readers, and when their feedback comes in I'll send the novel to my publisher. I've not published middle-grade before so I'm swimming blind at the moment.

Pushing to finish revisions on the novel I completed in December. I want it on an editor's desk (or least their floor) by the end of March. Which will put two of my novels out in circulation.

And then its back to work on the third...

I'm almost finished with the first draft of a book about the apocalypse, and then I'm going to start working on either 1) a trilogy about the Greek pantheon or 2) something with werewolves and vampires and banshees.

I sold a new mystery series recently set in the world of motor racing (I used to compete a long time ago). The 1st book will be out in September and I'm working on the follow-up title.

A scambaiting book. But after a ruthless purge of baits that wasted a lot of scammer's time but had little or no entertainment value it's only about 50 pages long so far.
Plan B is to include some factual information about scamming and various scam formats.
