boox max Q
I've got a lot of light sensitivity from a head injury and I'm thinking about buying the onyx boox max, mostly for email and listening to free audiobooks and podcasts, and some web browsing if it's fast enough.
My big question is whether I could run Zoom on it, either on the current system or on the expected update (I hope) to Android 4.4? I see that Zoom is available through GooglePlay. I have Zoom weekly meetings that I would love to attend without wearing dark glasses and wincing my way through them. Has anyone tried this? I asked Zoom support & they said they didn't think it would run because 4.0.4 is a customized version of Android, which I didn't understand (I'm not very techy). Thanks for any help with this or other advice -- it's a lot of money to spend sight unseen. |

Eink screen is good for static display but can't display full motion video.
You should be able to adjust display brightness of your computer screen of any windows computer. Search for Display Brightness Control Windows Vista, 10 or what ever operating system your using. You can find how to instructions or a program to install that will give you control needed. Your computer manufacture web site should also help. |

Thanks, filmo!
Anyone know whether there are any accessibility options on the Boox Max -- or just options to change the display? For instance, reversing the print/background so it's white on black? Or changing the contrast? |

Just a heads-up - Banggood have a sale on on the Onyx Boox Max. The price is down to US $679.99 / £554.10 / €644.
http://www.banggood.com/ONYX-BOOX-Ma...p-1069484.html I guess customs and VAT will come on top of that, so for Europeans it may not work out all that much cheaper than getting it from a European retailer. I thought I'd point it out anyway, in case it's of interest. |

Can you use it as a comfortable(!) web surfing tablet? How about the 2nd screen option? Does it work at usable speeds?
I would consider this only for the kindle app, web surfing and as a 2nd e-ink monitor. For real work I rely on my Sony DPT-S1. Don't know how stable the chinese copy called Onyx Boox Max is. But if it's the same as my M92 and M96...oh dear. Is the pen updated? On the m92 it felt like writing on a stone tablet Last edited by T.W.G; 11-19-2016 at 10:55 AM. |

The latest firmware for Onyx Boox Max had been released on the official website of Onyx International. Following is the link to it:
http://www.onyx-international.com.cn...280-max-v1-7-5 It said this version 1.8 is a major upgrade to the existing firmware. Looking forwards to updating my Max when I have free time. |

Thank you Booxtor and http://ereader-store.de/en/ for the November update which means my Boox Max pdf reader app hasn't crashed in the week since I installed it, and works MUCH quicker than it used to.

Could you post a video to compare the speed of the PDF reader of the last update and the PDF reader version used by Booxtor for his first video ? |

Would it be possible to connect my external Hard drive? (but the question could be for any USB flash disk).
The hard drive is powered by its own power supply, and I've got a USB-microUSB (B) adapter. I've tried with FAT32 or NTFS format. But when connected, nothing happens ![]() I've tried to install "Total Commander" and the "USB Plugin for Total Commander" but it doesn't show any hard drive either. Unfortunately, Usb OTG is currently not supported by the onyx firmware. It used to be about a year ago or so, but apparently they disabled it because of reasons (booxtor mentioned at some place in the forum). There was talk of reactivating the feature (people were/are annoyed tsar they cannot use usb keyboards) or at least enabling the option of switching it on or off, but I haven't heard anything about that since.

@Jayjee, @Wong McGregor, @joblack, @xtech, @deb2016, @jlark, @huyggy. Not counting so all the people with a Boox Max who didn't know this thread/your post. If this option is still buggy, at least make this option available (with a warning about the potential drain on the battery for some devices maybe). Is that a software or hardware restriction?
