600+ Pages of Healthy Recipes--FREE.

We have discussed, on this thread, some cookbook publishers which some of us didn't feel were legitimate--ones that appear, at least, to create cookbooks by, in effect, cutting and pasting recipes found on the Internet. In the case of at least one of these companies, it even appears that the names on the bylines of the books are fake.

I am a little wary of this book. I don't know much about the stated publisher, Cooking Genius. I do know that there are a huge number of Kindle cookbooks at Amazon under their name as publisher.

I notice that many of those books have names of supposed authors. However, the ones that don't, all (it seems) have "Speedy Publishing" as the author. Speedy Publishing seems to be close to, but not quite, an "independent" publisher. I find that it a little strange that they would be named as the author.

Searching Amazon's website for "Speedy Publishing," I find that at least some of the books that they apparently publish, have their name as publisher. It doesn't seem like Speedy Publishing would be using "Cooking Genius," then, as a furtive name for themselves.

At least some of Cooking Genius' cookbooks are free (there are a couple of reasons that I am posting only this one) and have been free in the past. That does not seem to fit with the modus operandi of the "companies" that post the fake cookbooks. They want to make (easy) money on their cookbooks--why would they give them away?

My gut (no pun intended) feeling is that this is a legitimate cookbook by a legitimate publisher. Otherwise I would have posted it on the "Less than $3.00" thread, or not posted it at all. Why did I expend so much effort giving my thoughts about the legitimacy of the book? It's because I want to uphold what I hope is a reputation for posting only what I believe to be high-quality ebooks.

Healthy Cooking Recipes: Clean Eating Edition: Quinoa Recipes, Superfoods and Smoothies. By Speedy Publishing. Rated 4.7 stars, but from only 9 reviews, at Amazon at the present moment; book not found at GoodReads. Print list price N/A; digital list price N/A; Kindle price now $0.00. Cooking Genius, publisher. 621 pages. http://www.amazon.com/Healthy-Cookin...recipes+speedy.

Book Description

The reviews on this one are not bad.
Now, I looked at the reviews on another of Speedy Publishing and it leads me to wonder. I can't check tonight.

The reviews have to be very good to excellent (4-5 stars) on an ebook or I won't post it. I might make an exception in the future for a very good reason, but I don't think that I've done it thus far.

The second "have to" is that it has to be a BIG bargain. I don't think that I've ever made an exception to this one, either. And I don't think that I ever will in the future.

Thank you for this.
Especially on the bargain part.
Note on the reviews if there are under 15 reviews and it is a 5 star book, look at the reviews.

I ran across a decluttering book that was 5 stars. It was obviously translated from another language. I am still trying to figure out house worms with psychological disorders.
The suggestions were not very good either.

. . . .
Yep. I use now 20 ratings or under--I think that any less than 20 is going to give an unreliable rating. If it doesn't have 20 or more at Amazon, I check GoodReads for the ratings there, and put in my post what I find out.

If I can't come up with 20 ratings or more--pretty much regardless of the number of stars or whatever--I usually will look at one or more reviews (usually the bad ones, if there are any), including ones at GoodReads.

If I can't come up with a total of 20 ratings from all sources, that doesn't necessarily doom the ebook. I just look at other things that might indicate quality, that I otherwise wouldn't scrutinize, and then make my best judgment.

If I post an ebook, you can be sure that I have vetted it and have come away strongly feeling that it is high quality (if there is any question in my mind, I'll let peeps know, as I did with the cookbook above). I feel like I'm saving everyone else the "legwork" of finding out for themselves. But I don't do it totally out of magnanimity--many of these ebooks are ones that I am considering for myself. ha

I ran across a de-cluttering book and bought it. I've lost it, though, in all the clutter in the house. (a semi-joke).
