I fixed my browser cache issues by installing an addon that wipe the cache everytime I closed the browser. I'm using a chrome browser and it's a secondary one - mainly for when firefox isn't working correctly on a page or I'm testing something, and (more recently) for FFF cache operations. I had hiccups pretty frequently and had to flush/reload quite a few times for about 2 weeks then just found an addon (there were several options) and I haven't had any issues since.
Auto History Wipe is the particular one I'm using but there were several options.

I was wondering if anyone knows if I update a book will the previous chapters update as well because the previous chapters I have are different from the ones are on the fanfic I like the previous chapters because he’s updated them and it’s not as good

And a second thing I would like help with is how do I stop the description and tags from updating

With linux it's quite simple. First you get the repository.

git clone https://github.com/nsapa/fanfictionnet_ff_proxy

In the directory of the proxy you install the required components

python3 -m pip install --user -U -r requirements.txt

Once done start it with

python3 chrome_content.py --chrome-version 95

Settings in personal.ini

[www.fanfiction.net] (or whatever)
use_nsapa_proxy:true
use_cloudscraper:false

That's it.

This was discussed a page or two back. If you have a paid account on storiesonline.net you don't see that.

Right now the consensus is that that is the correct solution.

By default, when updating an epub, FFF keeps the existing chapter texts (in case you edited them), but does update chapter titles if changed.

To deliberately update chapter(s), either manually delete the existing chapter(s) using Calibre's builtin Edit Book, or use FFF's Overwrite Always mode instead of update for all chapters.

Look at the FFF config Standard Columns tab to check columns you don't want FFF to update.

When I try flaresolver for ffnet flaresolver says 'download' was removed and 'cloudfare not detected' (and fff is forever 'in progress').

Anyone knows what I am doing wrong?

Small question: When dragging a URL from a Thunderbird email into the download window, it appears on a new line. However, if I drag from Vivaldi (Chromium-based)'s address bar, it doesn't make a new line.

Is this intended?

Okay I still don't understand all the Cache mumbojumbo, and -still- can't get it too work

But I tend to have to change between two versions of the plugin if i want to download higher MB rated files from SB, SV and QQ one I labeled QQ compatible for simplicity (works on the data-src stuff) and generally the standard update works on everything else.

My QQ Version I downloaded from either the test or consildidated version but when I Change to it it shows as Fanficfare 3.29.1 and it works but I need to switch between it and whatever the latest is for forum sites.

there needs to be a -dumbed- down version of the cache feature for us who don't understand programming is all, preferably a step-by-step guide like in the old days becaus I've tried following the browser cache feature and the guide-thing the other person put out but still can't get it to work.

Don't get me wrong, but that consensus is between you and one person posting that he bought a membership.
I can understand why SO would implement that change, but there were obviously other methods to achieve what they argue (reduce automated downloads).
From the (moral) plugin standpoint I don't see the big difference to before, where you had to "click" for the next part of the chapter with very long postings.

I respect if you are not adapting the plugin to the latest hurdle. I just wanted to state that for folks without a membership to the site the plugin is rendered useless with this change. I suggest you at least put in some kind of warning, because a user only finds out, when he reads the 'click for more' in the output ebook, because the behavior is otherwise normal.

Thanks for the hard work you put in it, really appreciate it for ALL supported sites, which there are a lot!

It's not intended, but it doesn't surprise me. Haven't we had this conversation before?

As I recall, the Qt libraries handle url drag-n-drop while FFF has to handle d-n-d of whole emails. What happens when you drag a URL only from an email, I don't know off hand; but apparently it's different URL than from browser.

Also as I recall, I switched to using the Qt library handling for URLs because I couldn't make FFF's handling play nicely with editing across win/mac/lin.

Worked for me when I tested it just now. Without at least a storyURL, error message and (ideally) a debug log, I can't even look at it.

I don't read storiesonline.net, so I have to depend on what users tell me about it. If only one user speaks up, that's all I have. I don't even know if this is an issue for all stories viewed by all free accounts, or just some.

I forget which one(s), but at least one of the other supported non-fanfic sites has a similar issue--free accounts don't see all the text and/or chapters. And I believe we have a few other sites that only work with paid accounts.

The other practical option for this is to detect 'click to read more' and fail the download of that chapter - whether that also fails entire download depending on continue_on_chapter_error setting. I'm willing to do that--you'd get an error message and no text for that chapter at all instead of partial text.

If someone else wants to contribute code to work around the 'click to read more' that doesn't need a browser or javascript engine, I will probably accept it.
