The first thing I do on any machine I use is turn off this preference that hides file name extensions.

I will forward your message to my wife and she will have to relent.

I hear they are having some discounts on Black Friday, and oh, I will be at the Mac store that day, my Son's Macbook is having keyboard problems. Glad we bought the 3 year ProCare with his laptop, he really abuses the thing. This will be the second repair it has needed it two years.
