She's more than half the time saying Val-IN-tee-un. Arrgh.

Like you, I studied Russian long ago (I was in college, not high school, but that was almost 40 years ago!!) So I understand about the "a" being more like "ah". To my mind, it would be AHN-uh-STAH-seeya, not Ahn-uh-stuh-SEE-ya.

But I also admit that it's been a long time since I was exposed to anything but the most peripheral Russian (two of my co-workers speak it, so we all say the Hi, and How Are you....but then I'm out of conversation. )
Yeah, I think we're on the same page about Anastasia. Stressing the second syllable in Valentin does sound strange.

She is one of the reasons I enjoy KU. I think Phoneix Adventures is the only one which goes out of Amazon. She has a series about treasure security that I'm enjoying a lot (Amazon only, sorry).

Hackett's Treasure Hunter Security series is also available widely since I get them on Kobo (and ARe before it closed). Unless she's enrolled the books to KU recently (I hope not).

I get lost with really prolific authors sometimes, as well.

Yes, you're right, there are another two series in KU, not this.

I want to read the treasure series too. It's on my To Buy List. I'm just trying to be good this year about not buying books until I'm ready to read them unless I've got a good coupon or they're on sale. I make an exception for a few autobuy authors I need to be in the right mood to read, but otherwise I am trying to only purchase when I plan to read right away.

Actually my list of truly autobuy authors had gotten much shorter than it used to be. I have a group of favorite authors who I am caught up on and read their new releases right away so they are still autobuys. Then I have a list of favorite authors I am trying to get caught up on plus authors like Anna Hackett where I have enjoyed what I've read so far but haven't quite made my favorites list. Those are the books I am trying to be patient and not necessarily buy right away (or the book is Amazon only so I am waiting to see if it will more widely released). And then books by new to me authors which also fall into the waiting to buy unless I plan to read right away category. I haven't been 100% successful in sticking to this plan, but I am trying

As someone always looking for the rare sci fi romance, I always get exited when I see Anna Hackett titles and then I get disappointed again that they seem to be all novella length. I don't read those, I want full books.

I keep getting drawn by the covers so I keep forgetting that this author writes novellas.

But holy moly are there as lot of those novellas now by this author. .

With my current mood, novellas fit me well, so it's a win-win.

I like novellas between serious reading. Right now I can't read even that as sis had a stroke was rush to the hospital then a day later mom collapsed and is in the hospital. So both mom and sis are both in the same hospital. I'm scrambling to get things set up long term because both will go to rehab after their stay. I hope the same place. As you know sis is mom's caretaker and she can't be now. There are dogs and cats involved. Bills needing paid and it falls on me who doesn't drive. No other family has stepped in to help.

I am still reading Archangel's Shadows. Nalini writes okay Novellas. Angel's Flight was pretty good.

Do you remember that group of well known authors who got together several years ago to write lunch hour stories? What ever happened to that?

Time For Love by Marie Force is currently free.

This is book 9 in her long-running Gansett Island series. Book 1, Maid For Love is on perma-free. I'm very excited because the later books are never on sale, and this is where I left off in the series.

I don't necessarily recommend jumping in here as each succeeding book continues with side stories on previous characters and I think you'd be lost if you hadn't read at least a few of the previous books.

Spoiler:
Dr. David Lawrence has spent the last two years atoning for his sins and recovering from the devastating breakup with Gansett Island golden girl Janey McCarthy. As the island's only doctor, he's had ample opportunity to show his fellow island residents that there's more to him than the guy who disappointed Janey so profoundly. Now if only he could find a way to forgive himself, he might be able to move on with his life without the woman he'd expected to love forever...

Daisy Babson, probationary director of housekeeping at McCarthy's Gansett Island Inn, is in bad need of a fresh start after her relationship with Truck Henry took a violent turn, leaving her battered and broken-in more ways than one. As she recovers from her injuries, her days are made brighter by her visits with David Lawrence. The kind and caring doctor who tended to her after the attack has become much more than a friend to her in recent weeks.

Will these two wounded hearts take comfort from one another and move forward on a new path toward love together? Or will ghosts from the past derail them before they get the chance for their own happily ever after?

Catch up with many of your favorite characters from earlier books in the McCarthys of Gansett Island Series, and get set for another summer of love on Gansett!

Best wishes for an uncomplicated recovery for your mom & sister, Blossom.

Isabel Cooper's Dark Powers series is $.99 for each book. It's been a while since I read them but they're PNR and I enjoyed them.
