This probably will be of interest only to those who are involved in preaching, education in Biblical studies, etc.
An organization called Explore the Bible is offering free downloads of 6 videos in exchange for "15 seconds" (plan on more like one minute) to complete a survey and provide some personal information. The titles of the videos seem really intriguing if you enjoy doing Bible study and teaching, and/or textual/expository preaching: 1a. Illustrating with Exegesis v. Illustrating with Eisegesis 1b. The Expository Sessions: Ruth 1:14-22 2a. Word Studies: When Do They Go Too Far? 2b. The Expository Sessions: Ruth 3:1-18 3a. You Don't Have to Trade In Your Cool Card to Teach Expositorily: Using Object Lessons 3b. The Expository Sessions: Ruth 4:1-17. I'm going to give you now the URL for the website that I was directed to in order to supply the information. I think that it is not embedded with a unique, one-time use code--I clicked on the link to it twice and both times received this webpage. However, if you are not able to access it, let me know and I will see if I can come up with a workaround of some sort. I can't speak to the quality of any of the videos--I haven't had a chance to watch any of them yet, because I wanted to post them right away for my fellow MobileReaders to use as soon as possible. Nice of me, isn't it? ![]() Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 07-07-2016 at 03:19 PM. |

Naxos is one of about 3 companies that I follow which offers free classical music. Naxos is better than the other couple of companies in a couple or so ways. One is that they provide entire albums, not just a few movements or something. On top of that, every time that they offer a new freebie, they actually offer three of them, from which a person gets to choose one. Oh, and for the true audiophile, they offer them in the superior-quality flac format (that's the only format that they offer for the freebies, by the way).
Here are the newest choices of free albums from Naxos: Debussy: Orchestral Works, Vol. 1. Faure/Ravel: String Quartets. Berlioz: Cantatas. True students of classical music may notice that each one of the albums is somehow connected with the great country of France: France has featured significantly in the news recently, profiled by its management of a range of international issues, from terrorist events to sporting tournaments. In 1789, the country similarly filled the world's consciousness as the French Revolution rolled back the status quo and ushered in a new ordering of society, a historic development that is celebrated each year on 14 July, Bastille Day. So we invite you to choose one of the three fine Naxos discs detailed below to help mark that day. They all have the distinctive flavour of France, so bon appétit as you make your choice! – Klaus Heymann You can find much more information about each one of the albums, preview each piece on the albums (my favorite strategy, however, is to listen to the entire album on my free Spotify account), and download the album of your choice, by pointing your web browser to [see Manabi's post below]. Don't you just love free stuff? Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 07-08-2016 at 11:51 PM. |

Now you can go to this page to see historical newsletters to get an idea what they look like, but the link for the free album won't work on any of them. |

Google Play has a new slate of 99 cent albums listed on their website. Several of them are of old classical artists, and several are of some up-and-comers that I've never heard of. But there are two albums that I consider must-buys, for myself at least:
Otis Redding. The Very Best of Otis Redding. Aretha Franklin. 30 Greatest Hits. Check out all of their album specials by pointing your web browser to here. |

From Classical-music.com:
THIS WEEK'S FREE DOWNLOAD Free Download: Allegro Moderato from Handel's Water Music Suite No. 1 Claim your FREE weekly download! <snip> This week's free download is the 'Allegro Moderato' from Handel's famous Water Music Suite No. 1. It comes from a recent recording by the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin on the Harmonia Mundi label, which was named Recording of the Month in the April issue of BBC Music Magazine. 'The piece's vitality and brilliance of invention shine forth in the strongest and most appealing orchestral colours in this new recording,' writes George Hall. 'The quality of playing is extraordinary, and the ensemble is flawless from a group that has no conductor.' Handel wrote the Water Music suites in the early 18th century, to be played at royal river parties on the Thames. No original orchestral parts from these performances survive, and nor does Handel's own autograph score, so it's not possible to know exactly what was performed, or when. We do know that on 17 July 1717 Handel may have had as many as 50 instruments on the water for a performance in honour of King George I, who was travelling up the river Thames. Here's the download link. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 07-11-2016 at 03:12 PM. |

I had trouble (endless cycle in three different browsers) signing up for the Ubisoft Club a few days ago, and just now was able to actually do it. Sadly, Prince of Persia, which I probably would have preferred, is gone now. But the new game (presumably for July) is up. It is Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell.
