I already read it, and I highly recommend it. I gave it 5 stars, but it does deal with difficult subject matter.

I think my reading style is changing. Books I have on my wish list no longer appeal to me or aren't a top priority. There is one book coming out that does but I am going to wait for a good coupon.

This happens to me periodically. Right now I feel like my tastes are undergoing a change but I'm not sure of the ultimate direction.

So as I sit here hacking (Coughing) on my sofa and realize there is only a few days of the year left. I did not reach my reading goal for the year thanks to real life. So now it's time to set a more realistic one in 2014. I think I am going to go with one book a week instead of two this time.

So do you set reading goals for each year? What will be the first book you plan to read in 2014 and why?

I am currently mentally gathering a list of books to read in 2014. I want to try out JD Robb and start Jill Shalvis Harbor series or Robyn Carr Virgin River. I haven't decided. I need to get back into Lara Adrain Midnight Breed series and maybe book 3 of the Psy-changling series.

My first book will probably be a Christmas book as I am still behind. The two I have to still read are Lori Wilde's A Cowboy for Christmas and Shannon Curtis's Christmas book in her McCormick Security Agency series.

I've got five chapters of Home for Christmas by Patrica Potter left. I just bought two LoveSwepts from the Escape Diaries series. They mention if you love Stephanie Plum you will like these so that's a 1 click for me.

Nah, I never set reading goals. I approach reading the way I do my workouts and weekends: Relax, find a good starting point, and enjoy the ride towards whichever destination you eventually end up with.

By the way, I've been meaning to tell you thanks again for the help and feedback about the Kindle Fire HD. My better half loves it, and since he's off work until the end of the year, the thing is practically attached to his hand day after day since he opened the box on Christmas morning.

You're very Welcome. Since my foot injury and not the flu my Nexus 7 is attached to me. It's become my go to for everything when I can't stand to have my laptop open on my lap. Hubby got me a GoGo Pillow for Christmas. It holds tablets so you can use it hands free. Mine is pink.

I just bought them all, except the 1st which I had read and then had to go buy all the audios at $.99. Can't bet that! Then I added up my purchases for December and just couldn't believe it. So added up November, not quite as bad, but really, really not good! So glad I bought them first! Think I am going to have to go on a book diet for the New Year! Does anyone set a budget for themselves? Any ideas? My purchases were so out of hand, I haven't a clue what would be reasonable. Not sure how I could be so oblivious, but I sure have been. Oh my goodness, I just realized that when I added it all up, I hadn't added in the audio books too. Oh dear. Out of control.

I am this year. I would like to read one a week and I want to read Pride and Prejudice. I think it is about time. Also want to read the 1st Dunnett Lymond book, Game of Kings and also Clash of Kings by Martin. And some of those books that I bought this year that i am still in shock about the money spent, starting with #2 of the In Death series. Think I will start with Confessions of a Shopaholic. Sigh, at least I do have a copy and haven't read it.

Blossom, like your pillow a lot.

Oh, I might want one of those for my own tablet for lounging-on-the-couch-reading... this must be investigated!

Walgreen's is where he got mine. They carry all those As Seen On TV stuff. Walmart does too and sometimes Dollar General.

I use a Jerry Garcia rag doll for that purpose. Even though he is missing most of a finger, he is no more hampered holding a Kindle than the original Jerry Garcia was disadvantaged holding a guitar. However, I did give up all other Grateful Dead memorabilia years ago...sadly.

Maybe we need a thread devoted to our various ereader and tablet holders.

Time to upgrade. I think hubby got it on sale. It wasn't 19.95 as he wouldn't pay that not saying he is cheap but.....

Hope you feel better soon.

I have been doing the AAR reading challenges for the past few years (since 2009). They are flexible enough I just pick books already in my TBR pile. I usually read somewhere around 200 books per year, but don't have set goals. I read 283 in 2012, but won't reach that quite that high this year.

My first book in 2014 will be Rumor Has It by Jill Shalvis. Since I haven't read it yet, figured I'd wait so I can count it toward the 2014 Reading Challenge. I plan to use it for The School Day Challenge.

I've been reading the JD Robb's since the series began and have reread the books a lot. I used to reread the whole series every time a new book released, but had to give that practice up once the series hit 15 books or so I always tell people to read the first 3 and if they aren't hooked then the series probably isn't for them. But I've known several people who didn't care for the first book who kept reading and still enjoy the series so that's why I say first three.

I plan to tackle the Lucky Harbor series as well. I enjoyed the first book which I read back when it was first released. And I have purchased all the others, but as the series grew I kept putting off reading book two for whatever reason. I also want to read Carla Neggers' Swift River Valley books and her Black Falls series. Plus some others I've had in my TBR for years.
