Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse (translated into English by *? I don't know) - is a nice gentle read - well recommended.

I'm reading, and thoroughly enjoying, The Passage. I like to read horror/science fiction during October, and this is just the ticket. There be vampires in it, but none that you'd want to fall in love with. Marty |

Just finished "The Totem" by David Morrell. A small town in Wyoming finds itself under siege from an outbreak of irrational violence. Fast paced and scary as Hell. Highly recommended.

I'm reading "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt. I can't put it down.

I'm enjoying Operation Mincemeat by Ben Macintyre -- non-fiction history about an Allied intelligence ruse during WWII that involved planting a dead, faked British officer to wash up on the shores of Spain carrying papers that would fool the enemy about the invasion of Sicily. Lots of nice background about the quirky intelligence officers who cooked up the con, many of whom were novelists and frustrated adventurers. I usually read (and write) historical espionage fiction but this is doing the trick. It was also a movie called The Man Who Never Was. As far as the characters go, it's about as close to fiction as you can get. Steve |

I'm currently reading two books: I loved the first book (The Son Of Man) that I'm now reading the second book in the the series by CW Johnson called Son of Man Elders of Zion (smashwords; first book The Son of Man). "The story of the infant clone of Christ and his surrogate parents continue as they flee the long arm of 'The Vinces.' Rejoin them as they settle in a strange, lawless wilderness once known as The United States of America". I'm also reading The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd - a love story between a woman and a monk, a woman and her husband, and ultimately a woman and her own soul." |
