![]() I'm guessing only a re-install will sort the problem ![]() Re the WiFi: You mentioned "it stays on scanning, mine never connects" what messages do you get in the status bar when you click on the connect button beneath the SSID Name? |

The licence will work with any version, so no problem there with you downloading other/newer versions. What strength signal % does it show ? What info does it report when you click the ► chr$ to the left of the SSID name?

You are right. The license works and the English version is also the newest. I put in the same password as on my laptop, it started to "scanning" (the first time it is "authenticating" but failed), the signal strength is "excellnet. I checked the second line below. It is connected but I can't open webpages. "the page cannot be displayed" Network name (SSID) **** (checked) This is a computer-to-computer... Encryption: TKIP Authentication: WPA-PSK Network Key: **** I openned "Network Connections". There are two icons: SDIO86861 (Marwell Wireless card settings) and BTPAN1 ("Bluetooth PAN Driver" settings". It seems that I need to fill in IP address and Name Servers, what are those? I guess Q7 is connected to the router now but not the internet... Last edited by jshzh; 09-13-2009 at 01:18 PM. |

OK, by picking another SSID on my SDIO advanced properties screen I am trying to log onto a neighbours device so I can go through the connection procedure.
Double-Click the two comp icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. Select the 'Wireless Information' tab. Select your router, click advanced, tick the 'use Windows to configure ...., click 'OK', click 'Connect' 1. Do not tick comp-to-comp box 2. Select encryption for your router 3. Select Authentication 4. Type in your password (Network key) 5. Click 'OK' I think this is correct, problem now is I have screwed my own machine ![]() |

I am now using the English version, which also allows mixed letters and numbers as keys. I thought all automatically generated keys for networks are mixed... Last edited by jshzh; 09-13-2009 at 06:20 PM. |

Ok, I am now up and running again. I used an original Chinese ver of WinCE to log in with the alpha-numeric password (network key) I then shut down and booted with my Englishized version and it connects automatically again

If you already have an entry for your router (shown as preferred?) in the Wireless Information box then delete it (select it and click on advanced, select again and delete). Now when it re-appears in the Wireless Info box select it and click 'connect' It should make you go through the connection procedure again, use the procedure I mentioned earlier and give it another go. Thank you. But I did exactly the same thing with my Chinese version before I use Houndx's Cab file. It didn't work. That was why I switched to the English version, hoping it would help somehow... Yes, I deleted in the entry to my router (preferred) and set up the pw again. It didn't work. Guess I need the Chinese version back? So you have the English and the Chinese versions installed at the same time? Maybe I should try that. Last edited by jshzh; 09-13-2009 at 08:06 PM. |

My Kindle cost me $300. For that cost, I can email anywhere a cell phone would work with Sprint, and I can read news or Twitter. I can do this for no cost except the originial $300. I think it is worth more than $300 for this one feature. I agree that black and white is no big deal versus color -- eye strain seems to me about the same, but I have spent many, many hours on my Nokia N800 and N810 with no problems with eye strain. I can get all the books on Project Gutenberg for free with my Kindle, and on many other sites. Can you tell me for certain that I can't convert files and get the Google book files on my Kindle? I haven't tried. I haven't noticed a fantastic selection of books in the Google book files that are not available from Project Gutenberg, can you list a few essential books that are not available from Gutenberg that ARE available from Google? Numbers of hundreds of thousands of books are somewhat worthless; you can't read numbers, only books. I have bought some very good books from Amazon that are definitely not available from free, legitimate sites. I am reading some Harry Bosh detective novels right now, I read Four Days in November, a fabulous book about the JFK assassination, and I read some other fiction, all costing me a reasonable $9.99 each. I am tempted to buy a Q7 myself! But I think the Kindle 2 is a very good deal. I can't speak for the DX. |

I got the connection in a very weird way last night. I tried capital letters as I had before and a new keyboard application. It didn't seem to work so I left the machine alone, thinking to give up. 20 mins later, I activated screen and it was connected!! I don't know what did the magic as I can't remember what I tried for the last time. I was just playing with the options. Was it because the new keyboard, the capital letter, or both, or neither? Anyway, I am not going to touch it untill next time the connection is lost... How is your bluetooth working? Can you transfer files between Q7 and your computer or cellphone? |
