Hi Davidfor, I was wondering if you could please sent me kobo clara HD SD card image as well? I woke up last week to an unresponsive e-reader and I suspect is it card related.

For instructions, I usually point to Memory Upgrade Mod Guide. I think there are some instructions for MACs in the first few pages, but, I am not sure. If you an use terminal, the command to use is "dd". But, I know people have mentioned a tool to write the image.

I don't need an image, but I wonder which Kobos have images available. Quick Google searches showed the Clara has images available (here) and some older modles (probably also here) but nothing for the Forma, Libra 2 or Saga.

(I'm thinking ahead. Again, I don't actually need an image.)

Its based on what type of internal storage the device has. Some have micro SD cards (removable), a few have micro SD cards covered in glue (unremovable), and still others use MMC chips which is non removable.

Only those that have internal, removable micro SD cards are re-imagable.
