Hi all, I found another free issue of the Country Home Kitchen magazine by Dennis Weaver for Nook users. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/coun...=9781312002432
In this St. Patrick's issue, I found recipes for chicken pot pies variations, scalloped potatoes, easy supper soups, and Irish desserts called Leprechaun Pies.
Unfortunately, this magazine is $.99 on Amazon.

When I clicked on this last night it was free, bought it and today I wake up with a charge from Amazon for this book. Something is not right. This is not the first time this has happened to me. UGH!

Wow. I'm sorry that I didn't give you guys a heads up when I posted it on the free & bargain non-fiction thread. I didn't even think about checking that! It's going to be a booger for me, too, as I only have a Kindle and Kindle for PC. Thanks for the information, Little.Egret (one of these days I'd like to know why you chose that username).

The description says you can pinch to zoom images and text, but that doesn't work. It's not available for PC or Mac but it is available for all of their eink devices! They even list Kindle for Android phones as an available device!

It's a crooked scan which I guess is supposed to look artsy, but it's not very usable.

Edit: it turns out zoom does work, just not within this book. I tried to zoom and the size of the image did not change, but when I went into the book I had been reading and the font is huge there! So the zoom works, it just works on a different book.

I turned on my Kindle (the original, non-Paperwhite) and downloaded the book. For some reason the orientation changed from the normal way (the book was turned counterclockwise 90 deg). The zoom feature did work, but you have to zoom each individual page--quite a pain in the rump. If you don't zoom, the type is absolutely too small to read.

I doubt that the book is worth all of this trouble for me. Again, I'm sorry that I didn't know about its difficulties before I posted it.

For future reference (anyone can chime in here) . . . . if, on the preview of books that Amazon gives, it says "Just so you know...This view is of the print book (Paperback edition). A preview of the Kindle book is currently not available," as was the case with this book, is this a tip off that the book will be like this one?

Not a problem. Usually if the book is a problem it's not available on the eink models, but this one is available on eink and on phones. I just wanted to let people know it was a problem on tablets as well.

I run across so many ebooks . . . . there's no way that I can post them all. So, I end posting ones that I see that look like they may be especially good ones and usually are my favorite price--free. This one both caught my attention and is my favorite price (for Kindle, at least).
