@DNSB; I just want to say you're an absolute livesaver! With the .img file you shared I was able to revive our Kobo Libra 2 flawlessly. Big, big thanks! It is unbelievable how incompetent/unhelpful the repair service/aftersales of a big Dutch online reseller was ('too old', no more parts, unrepairable, blah, blah) knowing how easy it actually was to restore the problem. Sad to think that many people will just accept it when they're being told that the device is defective and the solution is to buy a new one... Thanks again!

For the people who also have an unresponsive Kobo Libra 2 (white screen, blinking light) this is what I did to get it working again (OS = Windows 11):

1. First open the back cover with a plastic pry tool.
2. In my case I could not see any waterproof sealing on the SD Card, but believe me it was there, since that card was stuck(!). I grabbed the SD card corners between my fingertips, wiggled it gently from left to right and used a very, very thin precision screwdriver tool to push the card out from the other side (there is a very tiny hole there). I also heated up the board with a hairdryer for a few seconds (not long!) and after approx. 10 minutes of carefully trying I noticed that there was movement in the card and eventually it came out.
3. I requested and received the matching .img.
4. I downloaded that file and extracted it.
5. Next I inserted a brand new micro SD card into the computer and installed balenaEtcher, which was recommended here somewhere as well.
6. balenaEtcher has a very simple user interface. I selected the correct file, then I selected the correct drive (= new micro SD card) and let balenaEtcher do it's magic. NOTE: when I inserted in the new SD card into the computer it was in NTFS, but balenaEtcher + .img formatted the SD card to FAT32 automatically.
7. After this was completed I inserted the new SD card + new firmware in the Kobo Libra 2. Initially it did not respond, but it turned out that the battery was completely empty. After approx. 2-3 minutes I could turn it on again and it came back to life!

My Kobo Clara HD is reborn! Thanks to your help, I deleted all the partitions from the corrupted microSD card, verified its reliability, and flashed the image you sent me. I redid the initial setup, and now it's as good as new. Thanks again for your support.

Hello Friends,

Bought an old Kobo N905B and after an update, it suddenly stopped seeing wifi. I did a factory reset and when trying to register through the desktop app, the update app crashed and Kobo no longer boots (3 vertical dots). Tried all kinds of hard resets and it still does not boot.

Then I opened it and found it had a removable sd card (which of course I did not back up before the reset).

Long story short - could someone please share a factory SD image for N905B so I can write it to the card and get reading again.

Hi, my 2018 Kobo Clara HD is stuck looping on the black restoring page. I've removed and formatted the internal SD card. Can you please share the most recent available image? Can you also link some useful information to restore the image for Mac Users? I've found istructions fo Windows users only. Note that I don't have the need for larger storage, I would like to reuse the same SD (that appears to be working fine). Thank you.
