Of course, those first six books you mentioned are the Ace books. With the new Elric Saga you can just buy the first two. But if you bought the previous Chronicles of the Last Emperor of Melniboné books, they took those Ace books, broke them apart and threw them in a blender. The final story, Stormbringer, showed up before the first story, Elric of Melniboné as that was written later.

Buy the Elric Saga. The first book is currently on sale for $1.99. This book contains:

• Elric of Melniboné
• The Fortress of the Pearl
• The Sailor on the Seas of Fate
• The Weird of the White Wolf

It sounds like the entry on sale is only part of the series, and the other parts are not for sale yet?

'On sale' in this case means 'deeply discounted.'

There are three Elric Saga collections. All three are currently available for purchase in the US. They are usually $12 a pop. But you can get the first book on sale for $2.

If you buy all three of them, you will have all the Elric you will ever need.

Incidentally, book 2 contains:

• The Vanishing Tower
• The Revenge of the Rose
• The Bane of the Black Sword
• Stormbringer

And book 3 contains:

• The Dreamthief's Daughter
• The Skyraling Tree
• The White Wolf's Son

The confusion comes from the origins of Elric. Originally, Moorcock wrote a bunch of short stories and novellas about Elric. Then, in the late seventies the stories were collected, reworked and put together to form an internal chronology. These are the six books that were being referenced.

Over the years, Moorcock wrote some more about Elric. These books are also being collected in the Elric Saga books. If you get these three books, you are getting everything (until Moorcock decides to write more. He is still alive after all).

There's also the upcoming prequel, The Citadel of Forgotten Myths. (Amazon). This story was never published before.

Sure. But a cursory glance at any of the links provided would have cleared that mystery up.

Yes, sorry if my post gave that impression. It was true until the last year or so, when US publishers finally decided to release a new edition.

I probably will not buy Volume 3, but I'm tempted to grab Volume 2 if it goes on sale (even though I already have all the stories) because we get that classic Stormbringer cover. The UK edition for some reason decided to minimize all the art to a tiny thumbnail on the cover.

You can also import your UK edition into Calibre and replace the cover with that one. I found a large version of it in case you want to do that:
