In the U.S., our scientists work in the metric system, but our government contractors still use the old English system of measurements.

Sometimes we aim rockets at Mars and miss.

Well, one of the first test of the European heavy rocket Ariane 5 failed spectacularly. It was found later that they had copied the program that monitored acceleration from its predecessor Ariane 4. Unfortunately the acceleration of Ariane 5 was so much more powerful that it required one digit more in the counter... when the acceleration reached the maximum number the counter could hold, it went back to zero, and the rocket became unmanageable.

So you see, even with the metric system you can blow up rockets.

But how would you have a swift pint at your local if you got rid of imperial??

It would be an even swifter 'short pint' :-). 500ml is about 12% less than an Imperial pint, which is exactly 568.26125 ml.)

Of course, in the US this isn't an issue, as a US pint is actually about 5% less than 500ml, being exactly 473.176473ml.

So moving to metric units for drinks would actually get US drinkers a tiny bit more!

Tea, green with some spices in it (anise, cinnamon and licorice). Plus unspecified "natural aroma"

thinking is okay; but drinking may be difficult unless the bacon is liquidised, whilst a cup can be used as a receptacle from which to eat using a fork or finger.

I just pour it into my mouth which still constitutes drinking even though I have to chew. If I gotta do that with army coffee and it is drinking then...
