Don't beleive that I will make the one hundred books this year. I think that I am going to fall a little short of the finish line.

I see what you mean. I've been about 10 books behind for most of the last months myself.

I just reached the 100 book mark. As far as my page challenge go I'm up to 41,638 pages. It might be a close call to reach 50,000 by 21 December.

Which is a very impressive number! A couple of nights ago I was discussing reading habits with some friends, and most of them had only read one or two books this year.

I'm at 56 right now, so there's no way I'll make it to 100. I started strong at the beginning of this year, but than work and life caught up with me It's only 8 more weeks until the end of the year, so I might make it to 65.

The Terry Pratchett challenge I'm doing is doing wonders for my book count. I'm at 105 books now. Guess I needed some competitive spirit to liven things up again.

Don't know if I'll make it. Not counting my self out yet, it but it will be close. I started off the year strong. Had read over 50 books by June. Then I had surgery. Thought I would read a lot while off work. WRONG! Since then and returning back to work I have been doing a lot of rereading so am not counting all of those. I think I'm probably at about 80 books right now. [I really need to update my ticker - to busy reading I guess ] We'll see how it goes. Kudos to everyone who has hit the mark already.

I will make 100 no problems, and should finish somewhere around 105 - 110.
I've been choosing shorter books to ensure I hit the target, next year, assuming there is a 2012 reading challenge, I will be counting pages instead of books.
That way I can finally start some Brandon Sanderson, Brent Weeks, certain Stephen King.........

Considering I started in June, 25 books so far is pretty decent if you ask me. Obviously gonna fall way short, but a good effort none the less

I'm not going to make it. On book 78 right now, which means I'd have to avg 4+ a week for the rest of the year, and I've got other things to do around the holidays (though in some cases I'd rather be reading). It's okay, though, because even though I've always been a reader, I've NEVER come even close to reading this many books in a year before.

I was actually way ahead at the halfway point but focused on other things for longer than I realized, then did the same thing about a month later. **shrug** I'm still happy with my progress.

I certainly won't reach my goal this year, which is 50, and in fact won't even reach halfway 50, but I am happy with what I've read.

And hope springs eternal! I shall be participating next year again, probably with the same goal of 50 instead of 100. I am torn on the idea of counting pages instead of books, because I think pages a truer count and I certainly would be much closer to my goal counted that way (I've partially read a number of books this year that I haven't finished yet, a few of them rather long), but counting books instead of pages seems a simpler and nicer number to look at. I am considering counting both and seeing what happens, and if I do count pages am not sure what to consider the average number per book. Either 200, 250 or 300.

My average book is around 310 this year, but not all pages are the same. Those Neil Gaiman ones were short and the Stanley Elkin ones were long. To me, it all balances out and it doesn't really matter how many books one decides to try for or how many pages, but just to aim to read a lot and keep track of what we read.

My target for next year is 26 books, I've already picked all of the books. Stay tuned for the best challenge reading list. EVAR!

You've inspired me. From now on, instead of being slightly embarrassed about my HUGE TBR list, I'm simply going to say, "I've picked out all of the books I'm reading in the next 10 years."

Yeah, I guess that works better with 26 books than 1000+ books.

I envy you. I can't even pick what I'm going to read after I finish the current book, let alone plan the next 26.
