Eating an entire BOWL of Hershey's Kisses.
My morning: Get up, feed the cats; Take the dogs on their walk; Get about two miles from home, and spot a brush fire starting; Call the fire department, try to tell them more or less where I am and where (I think) the fire is; Hang up the cell phone; It begins to POUR rain by the bucket; Walk home two miles in the pouring rain; Oh, did I mention I was still in my PJs??; Hear the phone ringing in my butt pack, but don't want to take it out because I'm worried about the rain damaging it; Just about home, I meet up with the fire truck. They were not able to see the fire, and we agree that the torrential rain probably put the thing out; Feed the dogs; Take off my soaking wet pjs and climb into the shower; Get into dry clothes; Eat breakfast; Do the breakfast dishes; Start a load of laundry; Stick my wet butt pack (which I THOUGHT was empty) in the dryer; Paint one wall of the pantry; Try to find drivers for a Toshiba A55-S106; Fix a problem with an install on another laptop; Take butt pack out of dryer and discover backup cell phone battery was still in there; Eat lunch (thus, the entire bowl of chocolate). Gracious sakes alive. All this, before lunch!! (but the chocolate lunch sounds deliciously 'healthy'! I'm with you there.)

Right now sitting on the floor of my new apartment with laptop on my knees, facing the wall to avoid looking at the sea of bags and boxes piled up behind me, really wanting to brush my teeth, but in no way able to even get up to start looking for the "bathroom" boxes (2 boxes and one garbage bag because I ran out of boxes). In desperate need of the most well deserved shower ever, but wont have a shower nor a bath for two days because landlord has put off fixing the ceramic just a tiny winy bit too long. And lord knows I'm sticky and smelly right now (moving to a third floor on a sunny 30C day makes that to you).
Now also fridge less, my dad and my brother barely managed to get the oven in here, so there was no way the big old fridge from the 80ies could be taken up. Discovered yesterday that dependence on MR leaves me, when I'm computer less, in a tragic state of despair. There is two entire pages of threads I need to catch up to, and really really wanna read, and I left MR for 30 hours tops. So right now, I'm looking back on these last couple of days and I'm realizing things: I've got two extremely great friends (they've met today, and they answer me with exactly the same words when I start to panic - they sounded like a gospel choir, it was beautiful to watch), my brother, despite being an insolent wise-ass (like me ![]() ![]() ![]() So yeah, I'm happy in the end! |

Vcat, take a breath, relax, and just enjoy your new space.
Moving is the absolute pits, but once you get passed the confusion, a new place can be kind of exciting. Let the rest of it go for now and get some rest. I'm sure you deserve it. ![]() Congratulations and Happy Canada Day! |

Listening to my son sing parts of the soundtrack from "Repo" which I haven't seen and don't particularly want to; anticipating MR Donut Day with Rebarnmom; trying to get enough caffeine in me to be coherent when I meet Rebarnmom; and luxuriating in the fact that I have FOUR WHOLE DAYS OFF!
I'm going to spend the rest of today (after the meeting) cleaning, so I don't have to do it the rest of the weekend, and then it's Festival time! Tomorrow night is country concert (Whiskey Falls and a local band that a friend is in), Saturday is the art show (one of the highlights of Festival for me) and Sunday is grilling, carnival and fireworks. |

I have been scouring the internet to find a spreadsheet/database template that can gather information from the net based off of the isbn#. I want to make a printable list of all my physical books. For my own organization and to have a record in case of fire or insurance needs. I have not had any success and I am not knowledgeable enough to make one myself.

There is a program called ReaderWare that does a good job of this. Do you have a list of the ISBNs already? If not, there's a cheap barcode reader for about $15 available from either ReaderWare or LibraryThing.

1. Space Bag Jumbo Cubes; (best price seems to be at this site); 2. Ziploc totes; (special offer going on right now at the company site, much better than any price I've seen in the stores); and 3. Toodledo .... which is a great organizing utility (I have the "pro" subscription), and syncs with most of the smart phones. When faced with a big task, it always helps to have the right tools. I love the Spacebag totes because they compress way down, but you can still see what's in them. The Ziploc totes are great for clothing that just wont fit in your drawers (such as all of my jeans), but that you don't want to compress and store away (such as all of my fat and skinny jeans). Toodledo is great because you can break down each mountain into molehills and then smaller molehills and plan out exactly when you are going to tackle each one. It's much easier to get up and do something when you can see that it's a small 15 minute molehill than when you feel like you HAVE to do it ALL right now (and know that you can't). ![]() Hang in there!! |

Ricky, how did you know? Toodledo is the thing I need! Organizing is something I just can't do, this should help a lot! I now have an account and will fill it up with such a list...! I could really go for both the ziploc and the Space bag jumbo cubes, but I'm looking for a job so I don't want to splurge on anything. I'll keep those in mind though!
I wish you were there too! when I read the list of things you did yesterday I got a little teary from exhaustion... You are a saint and a model! ![]() |
