Kobo Discounts: Coupon Codes + Discussion

Sometimes, they send an email. But in France, we never get those since French (e)books don't allow the use of coupons. However, many readers buy books in more languages than their native one (see a thread on that topic). So yes, we can use codes but on specific books only.

Without those forums, websites and blogs, I wouldn't even know what a Kobo coupon is and I would do most of my purchase at Amazon without a doubt.

I'm also for dis-robing ().

Actually, I had some problems with a book once, they responded and refunded me the money.

BTW, it looks like the code stopped working after I e-mailed them. It might be a coincidence, of course.

Yep, the code stopped working. I tried buying another book of which I know it should have worked on, but it didn't.

Not surprising Fortunately this was a weekend, or I would never have had time to use this code for more than a few books.

I have no qualms whatsoever with using the 90% code. I have been purchasing ebooks since 2009 and believe I have spent my fair share of money on books. I am perfectly comfortable with the purchases I made this weekend and would do it again. I don't feel like I robbed, stole or cheated anyone given I paid money for ALL of my purchases. Whether it's $0.30 or $3.00 - money was exchanged.

I've engaged them in a chat session for accidentally buying a book by mistake, but I've never been brave enough to actually PM them. I've heard of too many horror stories (which I like in fiction, but not in real life).

Well it was fun while it lasted.

I got Judge Dee books and more then half Diskworld books. I have all Diskworld books in paper, but wanted them as e-books for long time. But with 90%off, I can now have them. Next time this happens, I am getting the rest of them.

And, about if we should use this offer or not. I am not that worried. Kobo is the big company and they should know how to do business. They can easily stop this if they want.

But maybe they want to keep us in their shop and they give us all this cool coupon codes, and games that give us codes and let us "travel" and easily shop in any of their shops because that will keep us in their shop and not over at Amazon.

I've already fixed all the metadata.

Fortunately, ALL books I bought were from the same publisher and in the same genre, and Extract ISBN worked wonders finding exactly one ISBN per book if there wasn't one there already. Now I only need to download the descriptions.

Checking the CSS should be very quick as well; mostly remove "font-family" occurences and remove paragraph margins if necessary. (I don't like converting a book to do only that.) This publisher normally has great layouts.

Yes, I think the general consensus is that for any of these codes to work, it has to be on the NEW checkout screen. Not sure if the 75% code works anymore, they might have turned that one off also.
