I ran from that cursed group and grabbed a cab that was driven by a seemingly human personage. I'd had more than enough of unruly wildlife to last a lifetime.

I had hardly got indoors, put the coffee on to simmer and taken out the biscuits when the horde arrived and took up all the available chairs, and a couple lounged on the floor.

"So," I said, "what's it to be, black, white or latte;" thinking it best to take control of this situation and do so slowly after all the previous occasions when it'd got out of hand .....

It was for just such a moment as this that I kept a small vial of liquefied sleeping pills handy. A few drops on each donut should be enough to quiet this rowdy crowd and allow me time to get my head together.

Strangers in black robes quietly entered the room. At first it looked like they were going to check out the dame's body parts to see if they were real or a byproduct of Dow Chemical, but then they focused their examination on her silk stockings and ruby red slippers.

Through the drug-induced fog surrounding my head, I began to notice something not-quite-right about the dame. She wasn't quite "dame" enough; her head was faintly simian-shaped, her arms were a bit too long, her legs were sort of bowed...suddenly a thought jumped into my head; "She reminds me of a shaved ape!"
